How to perform a handshake

 Before contact, lightly tense your forearm muscles to prevent a limp hand, but avoid fully squeezing until you make contact.

 Extend your right hand with your palm facing slightly inward or vertically. Keep your thumb pointing toward the ceiling to ensure you don’t offer only your fingers.

Engage your muscles to push your hand forward until the web of your hand touches the other person’s, ensuring palm-to-palm contact.

 Contract your flexor muscles to apply firm, steady pressure that matches the intensity of the other person’s grip.

 Use your biceps to perform 2 to 3 gentle, vertical pumps from the elbow.
