Chicken Wing Dissection – Term 2 Week 2 Science Biology

Hello everyone!

Today for science we had to dissect a chicken wing.

The aim –  The aim for this lesson was to find out where the ball joint was in the chicken leg.

The method – The steps we had to do for this lesson was…

  • Get our items ready, the aluminum tray, newpapers, seeker, tweezers and scissors and the most obvious, chicken wing.
  • Find the lower leg, upper thigh and the knee.
  • Find the ankle at the end of the drumstick.
  • Cut through the muscles over the knee to show the two bones joining at the knee.
  • Bend the chicken leg at the knee and then watch how the bones move.

Our results – Unfortunately, we don’t have a photo of our experiment but all the skin was removed at the end and all we were left with was the bones!
