History Of Clowns —

White Face Clown–

In 1801, Joseph Grimaldi designed a White Face Clown. It had its face and neck caked and covered in white makeup. Its mouth is painted like a grin with black paint. It had extravagant clothes and was a sophisticated character. The White Faced Clown is known for the highest status in the clown hierarchy.


A Clown Routine –

A Clown Routine is a comedic performance by a clown, usually naive and struggles with simple obstacles. The point to is make the audience laugh at the clown.

Foolishly, Goofy and Giddy, clowns are whimsical and silly. Their performances are mainly supposed to poke fun at the clown, trying to get the audience to laugh! Frivolously, they are known for their big poofy hair, sometimes red, sometimes rainbow. However, they can have any variety of hair types!


Learning a Clown Routine

Learning a Clown Routine requires you to develop and create a funky persona and mastering physical comedy with your body and not just your words. A clumsy, naive, and comically stupid character is a great example of a good clown persona. Exaggerating your movements and making eye contact/interacting with your crowd is also how you can be perceived as “silly” or “goofy” to your spectators.
