In this task, I used AI to explore environmental problems like school rubbish, farm pollution, water shortages, declining fish, and lost native habitats. The AI gave me three solutions for each, but it was up to me to decide which ones were realistic and suitable for our local environment. I learned that AI is good for ideas, but we still need human judgement and local knowledge.
I also grouped actions into tiers. Solar panels, wind farms, hydro dams, electric cars, and public transport are S‑Tier because they cut emissions a lot. Recycling, composting, and planting trees are helpful but smaller in impact, so they are A‑Tier. Water restrictions save water but not emissions, so they are B‑Tier.
This showed me that some “good” solutions can create new problems, like dams harming rivers or wrong trees damaging ecosystems. And a good whakataukī for task three that fits this is “Manaaki whenua, manaaki tangata, haere whakamua.” It reminds me that caring for the land and people means thinking carefully about how our choices affect the future.
