A relationship that changes is Jack and Ralph. At the start of the book when the first meet they had some friendly competition but in chapter 5 they start arguing over who has the conch. Jack yells at Piggy because he doesn’t think he should be listened to, but Ralph defends him. Jack stops following the rules which are the only things stopping them from turning into savages. Jack let the fire go out when and when it was out a ship went past this really affected Ralph because Jack cares about his pride and image more than getting off the island.
A character who is bullied is Piggy because of his appearance, the fact that he can’t swim and because he’s unathletic. Piggy has some great ideas but nobody will listen to him because they see him as a liability. Piggy is always trying to get Ralph’s approval but Ralph doesn’t take much notice. When Ralph does listen to Piggy good things happen like when Piggy taught Ralph to blow the conch which brought all the boys together but most of the time no one cares.
