Counting forward and backwards from 1 to 10

Mauri ora anō e te whānau,

This week for Pāngarau (Mathematics) we have been concentrating on counting forward and backward from 1 to 10 and 10 to 1.

We have practiced our forward counting by watching, listening, and learning waiata on YouTube that help us count to 10, we have had running relays where we had to run and count each number on the court (both forwards and backwards), we have built towers from 1 to 10 and noticed different things as we counted up and as we counted down. We noticed that as we counted up the towers got bigger and as we counted down the towers got smaller. They reminded us of stairs 🙂

Look at some of our tamariki and their towers

Look at Rhia-Amarni and Valley counting to 10 using their awesome wooden block towers.
