Read the paragraph.
Use your list to complete four editing passes:
Pass 1: Spelling
Pass 2: Sentence Flow
Pass 3: Punctuation
Pass 4: Vocabulary
Using a red pen correct the paragraph.

Yesterday our class went to the beach it was a amazing day and everyone was excited. We playd games on the sand and looked for shells but the wind was very strong. “look at that huge wave” shouted max. Some students walked along the shore and some just sat and watched. I was happy because i found a shiny shell and it was realy beautiful. We had lunch then we went back to school and everyone was tired but happy.
On your blog describe the beach or the shell or waves or lunch using the 5 w’s
or explain how waves are formed or sand is formed or how tides work.
Use your list to complete four editing passes:
Pass 1: Spelling
Pass 2: Sentence Flow
Pass 3: Punctuation
Pass 4: Vocabulary
Make the corrects and post blog.

 

Students should find and fix:
Spelling: playd, realy
Capital letters: Look, Max, I
Sentence boundaries: missing full stops
Punctuation: speech marks, commas
Grammar: “a amazing” → “an amazing”
Vocabulary: walked, looked, happy, beautiful could be improved
Extension Challenge
Ask students to improve the paragraph further by:
Replacing at least three boring verbs
Adding one complex sentence using because, although, if, or while
Adding a sensory detail (what they saw, heard, felt, smelled, or touched)
