Memphis, Gian, Legend – Rocket Launch

On Wednesday, 17th of June, all of our rocket teams packed our stuff and went to the hall to discuss what we will be doing. We got our papers and filled in what we needed to do, and each took turns on what we wrote. The engineers helped us. Asking us some very important questions.  They discussed in our teams each sentence that we went through and how we would solve it. It went very well!

Secondly, our team walked to the Basketball court with our rockets, the pumps and the launch pad. We waited for a very long time for us to blast off. We watched each and every one of the other teams’ rockets blast off. And it was our turn! We filled our rockets with water and put a parachute into the top of the rocket. We stood back, waiting for our rocket to finally launch.

“Three, Two, One!” The crowd shouted. The rocket shot through the air. Splashing water onto our faces. As the delicate rocket fell, the parachute slowed it down. Preventing its destruction from happening. I breathed a sigh of relief. The relentless pressure in the making of the rocket had finally ended.

How a water rocket blasts off:

How a water rocket works is that they are pumped up with air which builds up and has enough pressure to blast the water out. Just like Newton’s 3rd law, For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, so when the water blasts out, it pushes the rocket up.
