Marae Owae

This week l have been writing about the Marae Owae and this is what l wrote.

Last week we learned about the Marae (Owae).

Firstly, we walked down to the Marae and when we arrived, Whaea AJ talked about the entry of the Marae (Tomokanga) and the Maori designs, and why it tells the story of Wharematangi, then we walked through the entry and walked to the office beside the entry and waited under the shelter which was connected to the office because it was raining and waited for Whaea Tiri, then Whaea Tiri arrived, and the rain began to stop, we walked back to the next building which was Marae Atea.

Secondly, we got to the Marae Atea what was an area full of grass and its where people get welcomed and brought into the Marae, after that we walked off to Tama wahine.

Thirdly, we talked about Tama wahine what’s inside of it, there was gonna be heaps of people and heaps of Kai when it was at least gonna be Sunday or Saturday, but we were talking about the patterns more, we were discussing what was the designs about and telling the answers, then we went to the other building, we sat on the benches outside of the Marae and we were talking about the statue in front of the Marae then we took off our shoes and put it down on the ground under the benches, walked inside of the Marae and walked around the Marae and looked at the Photos of other people.

Fourth, we went to Sir Maui Pomares’ statue, and talked about him. He was born on January 13, 1876 and died on June 27 1930.

For example, when we were finished, we sat down at the beginning of the Marae where we walked in and we were discussing what was on the walls.

Another example, there was an emergency bell that some people couldn’t ring just people who were involved in the situations that they basically made or helped.
