This is about the school fundraiser known as the “Fun” run.
Prior to the event, around week 2, we were alerted that the fun run would be beginning in two weeks, on Thursday. Upon hearing this I was rather annoyed, every single time I did the fun run it was rather unenjoyable, and so I loathed that Thursday until it came. Nearly every day after the notification had a fun run practice. These days where the practice happened there were usually two groups. One for the people who want to sprint most of it, and another group for those who want to take their time. I was always in the group for people who want to take their time, mainly just because I wanted to talk with my friends and take the nature in. After and on halloween there was a change. Pretty much every day after that practice was a game of zombie apocalypse. The rules of zombie apocalypse are simple: There are the zombies, the humans, and the helpers, Zombies start in room 3 and leave after a whistle is blown, they try to infect humans, Humans must try to get to room 1 without getting infected. Helpers are completely immune to Zombies and can form a (rather unaffective) circle around the humans to prevent them from being infected, any zombie that got in could slaughter many humans at once. Every day after that was pretty much like that until the day of the fun run.
During the event was painful, we had to wait in the hot sun for a while, while it wasn’t as bad as it could be it was still unpleasant because of the time we had to wait. When it was me and the year 6 boys’s time to go, we had to wait even longer for the year 6 girls (maybe year 5 boys) to finish. When it was actually our time to go it wasn’t that great. Something notable was that it was a tiny bit harder to breath in the clouds of colour being sprayed by the teachers and parents. I tried my best to get now colour on me and just keep my shirt the way it is.
After the fun run we were awarded medals to the fastest, learnt our placements, and got a popcicle. After all of that happened, we went home and from then on, school was normal.
