The Mana Potential Model
Te Ara Whakamana

Implementing Te Ara Whakamana

Whats going on here?
Learning about the Mana potential model has established diverse ways i can connect with our tamariki, how we link each Ahuatanga/ characteristic with our Atua māori strengthens my kaupapa of Social and emotional competency. The 6 Atua/ characteristic’s have diverse meanings, each extending with actions, breaking down how to implement them and giving our tamariki a common colour scheme to identify.

Is this what i expected?

This model is new for me, so i am embedding it into my practice, reflecting ways i can implement it into our daily routine and what better way to explain it to our tamariki but, through a te ao māori lens of each Atua. Giving them a explanation, connecting it with there raw feelings/ emotions in the moment, for example: Tūmatauenga, feeling angry, allowing time for them to start to regulate, settle and give them time to kōrero.

Is it good?

I believe this model has a positive outlook, i think allocating time to engage the diversity of any presenting emotion from tamariki at any given time can be established, how? through using visual and second, sitting and having a kōrero individually and collectively.

Should i be concerned, why/ why not?

This model has a positive outlook so i don’t have concerns at this point, but i would be closely observing how our tamariki are reacting with there emotions in there own time/ space in our class environment and through there social engagements.

Do i need to take a closer look?

I would like to establish this model more closer, learning each Atua, the Action and how best i can implement it through my practice with our tamariki.

What is it about my practice that i have to take a closer look at?

Establishing reciprocal relationships with tamariki, to ensure their well being and emotions are acknowledged and guided.
Using this model to collectively engage and look at other PLD around the same kaupapa.
Talking with parents to see engage there aspirations and input for there tamariki.

Desk Cleaning 101!

Good Evening.

Today I cleaned my desk and moved it down stairs along with my desktop computer.

This task required concentration and time. I had to first clear my desk and the cupboard on the right. Once that was done I had to unplug all of the parts of the computer and carry down the monitor, keyboard and mouse. After that me and Mum carried the desk down the stairs to the Music Room (Also known as the Toy Room or the Games Room). Soon that was done and I had the task of plugging everything in. First I plugged in the multi board to the wall. Then I plugged all of the power cables into the multi board.  Next I plugged the monitor, keyboard and mouse to the computer. After that I was done.

Goodbye. -Oliver
