How to perform a handshake

Before contact, lightly tense your forearm muscles to prevent a limp hand, but avoid fully squeezing until you make contact.

Extend your right hand with your palm facing slightly inward or vertically. Keep your thumb pointing toward the ceiling to ensure you don’t offer only your fingers.

Engage your muscles to push your hand forward until the web of your hand touches the other person’s, ensuring palm-to-palm contact.

Contract your flexor muscles to apply firm, steady pressure that matches the intensity of the other person’s grip.

Use your biceps to perform 2 to 3 gentle, vertical pumps from the elbow.

Simultaneously relax your forearm flexors and release the hand, stepping back

What I learned about acids and bases.

What are acids and bases?/PH scales

Acids are a substance that has a PH level lower than 7 while bases have PH level higher than 7

Explain a litmus paper test.

A litmus test is a test that shows whether a substance is acidic or basic by a blue paper either turning red or staying blue

Blue= basic Red= acidic

What was easy and what was difficult?

Doing the litmus test was easy but remembering it all was hard.

Where do we see acids/bases in everyday life?

We see acids and bases everywhere from soap which is a base to lemon juice which is acidic.

My Science Reflection Blog (Acids & Bases)

Acid & Base Reflection

Acids & Bases

Acids and Bases are scientific pH levels, for example for acid its citrus fruit and base is toothpaste and many more things. On the pH scale there is a row of colours in the order of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet).

The Indicators

Indicators are used to calculate the pH scale. There are two types of indicators, universal and litmus.

Litmus are papers that are blue and red and used to tell us what type of liquids are acid or base. Blue papers turn red in acidic liquid while red papers turn blue in basic liquids.

Universal indicators are the more specific version of the litmus indicator. Universal indicators are a mixture of pH indicators designed to change color over a wide pH range (1–14) to determine the strength of acidic or alkaline (base) solutions.

Science Practical Litmus Paper

In Science we were doing a practical about the liquids and the type of pH colour. Me and my group were dripping the liquids into a test tube and we would test their acid or base by dipping the litmus paper showing us their pH type.

Real Life Examples

Acids are in citrus fruit, carbonated drinks and vinegar. Bases are found in cleaning products, the body’s blood and saliva and lime (calcium hydroxide).

TITLE: What I Learned About Acids and Bases

TITLE: What I Learned About Acids and Bases

What an Acids and bases-    Acids and bases are two fundamental types of chemical compounds with opposite properties that react with each other to form salt and water (a process called neutralization). Acids are substances that release hydrogen ions (H+) in water and typically have a sour taste, while bases accept hydrogen ions (or release hydroxide ions,OH+) and are usually bitter and slippery to the touch.

Describe an experiment (e.g., indicator test, reactions)

This experiment demonstrates how a natural pH indicator can be created from red cabbage to test the acidity or alkalinity of household substances.

What was easy?

The thing that was easy for my group was writing.

What was challenging?

The most challenging part is remembering the Acids and the bases.

Where do we see acids/bases in everyday life?

Acids and bases are everywhere in everyday life, from the food we eat and the products we use for cleaning to the chemical reactions happening inside our bodies. Generally, acids taste sour and have a lower pH (< 7), while bases (alkalis) taste bitter, feel soapy, and have a higher pH (> 7).

🗺👑 !King And Country! 👑🗺

For the past few days in reading we have been working on a text called king and country, which is about Anzac and a kid called Tama going to war. we had to try to understand the text and do a few activities with it. I have done a T chart, and a letter about Tama apologizing to his mum about going to war here is my projects. 👇

Question: What do you know about Anzac day?

CK T chart Whaea vs Rongo/Tipu – King and country

Today we had to make a T chart about King and country. We were learning to analyze the purpose and the message of the story. There was the mother/Whaea and the son/Tipu. The Whaea wanted all her sons to stay at home with her instead of going to war and the sons wanted to go. I really liked the task. Here is my work:

What do you think is the best one and why?

King and Country!!!!

We have been reading and learning about Tipu and how he wants to fight fo r the English but he is too young, Rongo, his older brother, goes to war, their Mother does not want them to fight. She doesn’t want this because:

1. Because 50 years before they had been at war with English,

2. She doesn’t want them getting hurt.

If Rongo sent a secret message to his Mother and she wrote back it might be like:

Whaea is Mother and Tama is son!

Question: Have you heard of war?

King and my County

This week we have been phase 3 English asks students to move beyond just understanding a story to analyzing purpose and message and to understand how Maori took part in the First World War. There was a mum were her oldest son went to war and there was a younger brother who wants to go. I made a t chart on both their opinions.   As an extension I did a secret letter from the older brother named Rongo. Here they are. Do you have any relationships with WW1?

Sharks! (reading)

This week for reading we have been learning about sharks and specifically great whites!

Here are some facts I did on the work sheets ( could not get a photo 😓)

  1. They have about 300 teeth, arranged in 7 rows
  2. They can reach a length of 6 meters
  3. They can weigh closes to 2240
  4. Known for many threats in the ocean
  5. They mainly eat seals, tuna and small marine animals
  6.  Since they have a grey blue-ish color they can kind of blend in with the sea

That’s all I know for now!

Bye!

Pepeha Tagalog version.26

Task Description: In this task I have been structuring and recording myself reading my pepeha. This is currently my Tagalog version. I am not sure if I have to create a Maori version though this is the main one I will be using for my Ko wai au.  A pepeha is a short introduction about yourself and your family, the Maori usually add their mountain and river. Though I am from the Philipines so I just added details about which country I live in and who my family is. This is Tagalog and because it is my first language I only had troubles on 2-3  words.
