1VOC Cooking Lesson 2

In cooking today we got in our cooking groups and cooked a vegetable bake and fry bread to go with it. My contribution to my group was I went to Aunty Jaime to get our instructions for our group, I also chopped the garlic, and did most of the dishes while also wiping the benches. Today I learnt how to fry bread, and how to bake a vegetable bake.

I learnt that our group mucks around quite a lot and they need to sort it out so we can have the privilege to have many more cooking lessons. 

Overall all of our food was so delicious, the vegetable bake was piping hot, and bursting with flavor, while the fry bread was so perfect it melted in my mouth. 

Vegetable bake 

Ingredients:

Onions, Kumara, Potato, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Garlic, Cheese, Cream, Milk, Oregano, Thyme, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Chicken Stock

Bread:

2 cups of warm water , 1 tbs of sugar, 1 tbs of yeast, 4 cups flour

Method: Vege Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 180degrees fan bake
  2. Peel Potato and Kumara
  3. Finely slice Kumara, Potato, Onions, Pumpkin
  4. Dice garlic and grate cheese
  5. Roughly chop broccoli and cauliflower
  6. Layer vegetables in cooking dish, and sprinkle cheese between each layer
  7. Pour white sauce over top of dish
  8. Cover the dish with tin foil and put in the oven

Method: Fry Bread

  1. Pour warm water in bowl, along with sugar, and yeast, let that sit for a bit
  2. Add flour in with mixture, mix with wooden spoon
  3. Let bread rise in sun
  4. Kneed dough out with some oil
  5. Use a cup to evenly size bread
  6. Cook in pan of oil, till golden brown
