I’ve got to tell you, today was the day I completed the final kick-start challenge of the year, and it was an exciting one! This wasn’t just any regular task—it was all about pushing our creativity to the limit. So, what did we have to do? Create our very own water obstacle course on a Google site of our choosing. Sounds pretty cool, right? Let me walk you through how I tackled this fun, yet challenging challenge!
First, I had to decide on which platform I wanted to use for my obstacle course. After a bit of pondering, I decided to go with Canva. I know, I know—it’s usually a design tool, but I love how flexible it is and how easy it is to create something that looks really polished. Plus, I wanted to give it a try for this kind of project. Canva definitely helped me bring my vision to life with all its customizable features. It was the perfect blank canvas to get started.
Once I had my site ready, the real fun began. The task was clear, but not necessarily easy: I had to build an obstacle course. But here’s the catch—it wasn’t supposed to be just any water park or random water features. Nope! The goal was to make it a true obstacle course that challenged anyone who dared to complete it. I’m talking tough, strategic, water-themed obstacles that had some serious levels of difficulty—something people would actually break a sweat trying to complete! 
At first, I was a little stumped. I mean, how do you turn the fun of water into an actual challenge? It’s not just about fun slides or splash zones. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that an obstacle course needed to have a real sense of progression, with each stage ramping up in difficulty. So, I started brainstorming all kinds of ideas for obstacles, and I had to keep asking myself: What would make someone work for that final victory? I thought of everything from water tunnels and tricky balance beams to giant water wheels that you have to jump across. The more creative (and difficult) I got, the more fun it became! 
Now, let me be honest with you—it wasn’t all smooth sailing. There were moments when I’d get stuck, trying to figure out how to connect one obstacle to the next without it feeling too easy or too impossible. Plus, I had to make sure the course had a sense of flow, so people would have to strategize and think ahead. It was definitely harder than I anticipated, but the process was so rewarding.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was deciding how to visually represent the obstacles while keeping everything clear and easy to navigate. I wanted to make sure that each stage looked exciting and made people want to take it on, but I also didn’t want the design to overwhelm the obstacles themselves. I spent a lot of time tweaking the colors, placement, and even the images I used to make the course look dynamic, without making it look too busy. Canva gave me tons of flexibility in this, so I was able to adjust things until it felt just right.
After hours of work, brainstorming, and a few redesigns, I finally completed my water obstacle course. It wasn’t just a bunch of random elements thrown together—it was a full-on, heart-pumping challenge that made me proud of my design skills. It was a course anyone would have to think twice about before tackling.
