something I found interesting in school.

Kia Ora everyone my name is Ian and today I will be recapping about something I found interesting in school.

I will be recapping about Mandarin because when I had Mandarin we had a contest of picking beans up put it in a cup using chopsticks and I got paired with Esava.  He had a little trouble with using chopsticks but he soon got the hang of it and we came last but, then the second phase we had to line up the cups, the beans to the side and pick up using chopsticks but this time we came second to last.

Expecrations

At the start of 2025, LS2 had a discussion of how we could make the most of our learning time. To be able to do expect to be able learn new things and collaborate with others. This is my Expectations I made with my group. This is my list of what we think our teachers expect us to do: Particpating with our group, Listening to the instructor or teacher when they are speaking, Having a positive attitude towards your learning and Choosing your words wisely.

I enjoyed doing this activity because I got to collaborate with my group and new people that just came to our school.

(Science) Investing State Changes

Hello, my name is Cayden. This is my blog about the graph I made about the ice temperature when I melted it with my partner using a Bunsen burner. Our goal was to make the ice turn to water and make it boil in 14 minutes. We ended up not making it, but we did see some bubbles, which was a sign that it was starting to boil. When it hit the 14 minutes, my buddy and I wrote down all the temperatures for every minute from 1 to 14.

It started off as we were preparing for everything so we could do the experiment fast, cause we wanted to do it and tried wasting no time. We set up the beakers and stuff, the thermometer, the heat mat, the bunsen burner, and the stand for the bunsen burner. We put the thermometer on the clamp, and the clamp was on the retort stand.

After everything was done, we decided to put the results into a doc. And put the results there, and we made a graph that’s all for today, bye.

Investigating State Changes (Science)

Kia ora bloggers, in today’s blog I will be talking about an experiment we did a couple days ago. The experiment was about the temperature and time, we wanted to see if our graph are the same to other people’s graphs. The main thing was to observe the solid melt into a liquid and the liquid turn into a gas.

We did this by having a tool that holds a thermometer. We had to put the thermometer near the bottom of the beaker, the reason why you do this is so that you won’t get the wrong temperature, the reason why you might get the wrong temperature is because if the thermometer is touching the bottom it will be hotter than usual because of the flame that is so close and if you put it too high once the ice melts the water won’t reach the thermometer.

The results are pretty on target because every minute we would write down what the temperature is. As you can see from our results the lowest it went is -14  and the highest is 75, as you would see the temperature dropped down from 60 to 10 which is a massive difference and then the heat rose higher and higher.

You could see in the picture that I drew a graph of the results that my buddy and I got. We drew this separately so he had one and I had one. The reason how we know how to draw this is because our teacher taught us how to draw a graph because later on we would have to draw a graph.

At the end everything worked out and happened. I think that my results were pretty accurate from the heat and cold that came from the thermometer. If I did my best here, I could try and do better in the future which is what I’m going to aim for.

What Learning Should Look Like in LS2

LI: To co-construct ways we can make the most of our learning time in LS2

At the start of the 2025 learning year LS2 had a discussion about how we could make the most of our learning time. For this this task we got into to groups and collaborated together and I collaborated with Melle, CJ, Tejal, Antonia, River, and Taisorn which I enjoyed because we were giving each other ideas and collaborating together. We also gave each other the expectations that were meant to do around the class and what are expected to do. One of our expectations around the class is communicating and sharing ideas with each other, the communication is helping us to gain confidence and make friends, and sharing ideas with each other also helps us gaining confidence and it helps ideas get into bigger ones. This activity was fun because we joined together and had fun as well as learning together.

Pool Scene Explanation

  1. There is a little girl that is running when there is a sign that says ‘No Running’

The reason this is unsafe is since there is a sign, there could be a reason such as slippery surface or you could easily hurt yourself.

2.On the right there is a girl that is about to jump into the water and is about to hit the boy below

The reason this is unsafe is it would definitely hurt if someone jumped on top of you

3.At the front of the picture, there is a girl pushing another girl into the water

The reason this is unsafe is because the girl looks surprised and off guard and could hit the water head first.

4.There is a person with a phone and that about to walk into the water

The reason this is unsafe is because the guy will be taken off guard and also the phone would be destroyed

5.There is a girl on the left that is about to cannon bomb into the water when there is a sign that says ‘Shallow Water No Jumping’

The reason this is unsafe is if there is shallow water then you would hit the bottom of the pool really fast

Reading-Week 5-Term 1

hey guys so this is my first reading blog of 2025!! so this year im learning about monkeys again!this is like a repost blog from last year and i had a lot of words on that blog so lets try to get more words this time!so i recorded myself reading the monkey article book thing and here are some new things i learnt from that book even tho i read about it last year,so did u know that humans are also primates,i had some hard time pronouncing that but thankfully it told me how to pronounce it( PRY-MATES ) so yeah im so thankful for that and same as orangutans, gorilla, chimpanzees and more!did u also know that monkeys eat up to 200 types of food in the world!? some are nuts and they use they’re own tools like rocks and tree branches? how do they defend  themselves from tree branches u may ask? well when they are getting attacked from a snake they climb up to a tree branch and they use the tree branch as a club, and monkeys have a lot of different habitats such as mountains, grasslands, forests, jungles and even city or towns!i still cannot believe they live in cities cause i dont know how people deal with that!

so this is what i did i know i may have added some stuff but like this is my 199th try and this was the actual one that wasn’t that chaotic plus i missed my reading group just to record this so hope u like the video😔by the way dont mind why is there a monkey reading about monkeys that just to make my friend happy heh by the way if u comment on my blog please dont comment anything stupid,if u dont im so happy and thank u so much

the definition is capuchin-a black or brown monkey from south and central america,primates-a mammal with faces hands and legs,monkey-an animal known for swinging on branches,arboreal-living often or found around trees,canopy-a shelter that hangs over things,macaques-a monkey from Asia that has a short tail or no tail,proboscis-animals that have flexible snouts like a elephant,troops-a group of monkeys,stump-wild land fires,habitat-where the animal lives,so that is all the words and definition of the words hope it helps! also again if ur gonna comment about this part of my blog please dont comment anything stupid just comment these 3 things postitive, questions, thoughtful, and helpful those are some things u can comment to try and help upgrade my blog descriptions thank u!i forgot to add the sentences so u can just look if u want!

My safe river scene

Today our class looked at a photo of people being unsafe in the water and well made a photo with people being safe in the water, mine is of a family who are all being safe and responsible like, the dad is holding onto his toddler son so he doesn’t fall into the water and is paying attention to him, and the mother is playing with a ball with his son, and the older sister is playing with the younger sister and the younger sister is using a floaty. And all of the family members are wearing a life jacket, even the ones that aren’t in the water.

My Scientific Report From a Experiment I Did Earlier This Week

Aim: What I was trying to achieve is to see what would happen if ice was placed on a Bunsen burner to see all the different forms like solids liquids and gas.

Method: We first took out our Bunsen burners and hooked them up to some gas. Then we got a beaker and some ice and after that we got a stand to put the beaker on and another stand but to hold the thermometer.

Results: after 14 mins of the Bunsen burner warming the ice the water got up to 104 celsius and started to Bubble and steam started to rise.

My analysis is this image below

Conclusion: In Conclusion we saw solid ice start to melt and at minute 3 the ice turned to water and at minute 10 bubbles started to form and eventually it started to boil and turn to steam and that’s what happens.

History Of New Zealand Flags

For our task we were learning about the history of New Zealand Flags and know the story behind it and what it means. It is very interesting on how they were deciding on what the New Zealand flag looks like thinking very hard but in time they will figure it out and they did but I got a interesting thought on How did they agree on what the New Zealand will look like ?. Something I found very interesting was working on the evolution of the New Zealand flag and collaborating with the people I was working with.

Actostics Poems

An acrostic poem is a poem in which certain letters of each line spells out a word name or phrase.

An example is

Can make loud noises
Also has food in them
Not all of them are good

An acrostic and also be a name or a  place of something else.
Acrostic poems are one of my favourite poems because they are easy to do and are fun.
Acrostics may describe someone or not.
