Hanmer Camp🏕

On Monday 26th Totara 1 and 3 travelled to Hanmer for our school camp. On our day of arrival my group went over and did archery. I enjoyed archery very much because it was a new thing to me, that was my first time ever doing archery. We first of all learnt how to hold the bow and how to shoot it. My first practice round didn’t go very well, but with all the encouraging comments I continued and went well. After we had finish our activity’s we got all of our togs and towels together and went to the pools. The pools were so fun I didn’t want to leave! For our first night we had nachos and for dessert we had peach pudding with a side of ice cream, the nachos were very good!

On our second day we did tree climbing and mountain biking. The trees were 45 meters tall! I found it very nerve racking but I still made it to the top! Tree climbing went for about 2 hours, there was a little tree as well for people who didn’t want to climb the tall ones. We finished tree climbing then lined up for mountain biking. We went on a 9 km bike ride around the easy rider track. When we had finished biking we had some extra time so our instructor asked us if we wanted to go on a little challenge. The challenge was biking down a really winding steep hill. We biked back and then got ready for the pools again. We got back from the pools and ate dinner, We had homemade burgers and chips and our dessert was self-saucing chocolate pudding and ice cream!

On our last day we did orienteering, we had to run around the forest with a map and find some numbers with 2 letters written underneath it. Our team did very well coming in second place with 520 points! Ash helped us find the clues, if we didn’t have her help we probably wouldn’t have placed second. We came back from our last activity and ate our lunch with Totara 2! Camp was so fun!
