Health- Drug Laws in Aotearoa

Kia ora, Today I am here with another blog post about drug laws in New Zealand.

Alcohol Purchasing age: 18+

Drinking age: 18 years old 

Drinking at a party: There is no legal drinking, but you have to express consent from your parent or legal drinking. 

Fine and/or jail time for the person selling U18 the alcohol?
$2,000 if they don’t follow the law.
Marijuana Highlight- is it illegal or legal?

Possession/to have: illegal or legal?

Distribution/deal: illegal or legal?

Cultivation/grow: illegal or legal?

Consequences of breaking these laws for:

Possessing: 500 dollars or 3 months in prison. 

Distributing: 14 years in prison 

Cultivating: 7 months in prison

Cigarettes Purchasing age: The legal purchasing age in New Zealand is 18 years old.  Fine and/or jail time for the person selling U18 the cigarettes? The legal fine or jail time is 20,000 dollars or a 6-month prison sentence. 
Vaping Purchasing age: 18 years old  Fine and/or jail time for the person selling U18 vapes?- Anyone under the age of 18 can be up to 10,000 dollars. 
Select a drug of your choice Purchasing age: There is no legal purchasing age.

Class: It is a class a {A very high risk}

Restrictions: It is a criminal offence.

Consequences of breaking these laws: The consequences of breaking these laws can lead up to 6-months in prison or a fine up to 1,000 dollars.
