What we learnt about Substitution


Basically Substitution is putting numbers into letters and using more than one letters.
Easy Example for substitution=

2X= lets say that X is 3
so 2 x 3 is 6 so the answer is 6

Another Example using more than 1 letter=
4X + 2Y  ( Y=1) ( X=2)
4 x 2 + 2 x 1
8+2=
10

There are a lot of different ways of doing substitution sometimes you can get confused but i really think that it is a really cool thing to learn in maths its quiet fun.

This week we have been doing substitution in maths.  It has been cool.  I liked it.  It was interesting.  I did the substitution.  I did it good.  So did other peeps.  We did some group work as well, and it was… interesting.

This week was the first week of the term. witch was fun. I am having a lot of fun in maths. We are doing MORE algebra.  here is a link to balancing equations.

This week has been very educational and helpful as well as enriching I have had a very good week of Maths. I have enjoyed learning about the substitution in Algebra. Because of the previous weeks learning about Algebra skills, the switch into algebra substitution has been very easy as I knew quite a lot from before. There isn’t much difference between the two the only thing is that when you’re dealing with algebra skills you don’t know what the letters are. And substitution is that you do know what the letters are but you have to substitute numbers in for them.

In the holidays my Cousins came down to visit me and my family,in the first week of the holidays me and my family stayed home and slept in but while we slept in we went to the parks in different locations like Wellington,Queen Elizabeth park and other places to.We also went to the beach in Wellingtons and looked at the amazing sunset views.My cousins couldn’t stay long  they only stayed from Monday-Thursday,When they left we went up to Taupo and stayed there from Friday -next Thursday we went shopping got new clothes and shoes also swimmed in the lake and went on our new boat,

When we came home my room was a messed And I found out who is was my dog he went through all my clothes that was in my wardrobe and messed it and my bed was liked someone pulled all the sheets and blanket so I had to re clean my room and unpack.The next morning Friday we went to have a picnic down by the river because it was nice and sunny, we had fruits,jam sandwiches,water also some mashed egg sandwiches. When we came back we had a swim in my pool. Then on Saturday we went shopping in mall for some new clothes and shoes at The Plaza(Palmerston North Mall) My Mum gave me and my Sister Karley $50 each for us to spend on.I mostly spent it on food and earrings and I don’t even got my ears pierced at the end of the day we had some food like dumplings and kebabs.on the very last day we  went to nowhere we just slept in and cleaned and got ready for school.

1 thing that I enjoyed this week at school is Times Tables. Because why not? It could be useful.

Why does the title said that? Good question…. Because I was tormented by a 2 year old annoying toddler… Yep a 2 year old… And no I don’t have any baby siblings. Why was I annoyed by a toddler? And how? Well I cannot tell you why is he here and yes it’s a male. Well that little demon cries when an episode of tractor ted is over (Comment down if you heard of it) and likes to make loud noises and throws stuff at me and how does he fell about throwing stuff at me? He thinks it’s fun for him! FOR ME IT AIN’T FUN IT’S ANNOYING!!!!!! And then he and his mother moved to the other house… Yeah… Anyway at the end of the holidays me, Raymond and Simon went to the Paraparaumu Pools and went swimming! (Finally…) And I went to the water slide a couple of times… And… Yep that’s all… Yes it’s done. Get out of here if you want more.

Why painting is brilliant 

Painting is an art activity that shows your artistic skills which is really awesome, it’s calming too. When you paint you need a paint pallet, brushes, water to wash out the colour you aren’t using anymore and the last thing you will need is just the colours of paint you will need for your art piece.

Painting on the other hand also is making people use there imagination and there own creativity thoughts but the amazing thing is you can do anything you like, you could be doing art to give to someone, for yourself, calendar art for your college or school, even for competitions! 

You can use any colours you want on your paper or canvas, you can make your art piece bright or dark by mixing colours and by using any colours you want.

Finishing your art piece and using all of these bright and vibrant colours is what makes painting awesome.

Show hunter champs is held in Foxton on the first weekend of the holidays every year,it goes for three days. My sisters Aleisha and  Lauren competed in the show as well as me.


Show hunter champs is a horse jumping show judged on style. There were about  22 teams that compete,my team was Horowhenua. There were eight people in each team two in each category.


The category are on the size of your pony/horse. Cat A is for the little ponies they jump courses of sixty and seventy centermeters. Cat B my group is for the medium sized ponies we jump seventy and eighty. Cat C is for the big ponies witch Aleisha is in,she jumps eighty and ninety. My other sister Lauren is in the hack ring this category is for horses they jump ninety to a meter ten.


My horse mickey was really good we came in the top 8 out of 44 in every class. After everyone finished there last round we had prize giving. All the teams lined up on there horses and the announcer began.


She started with cat A one of our team members won the overall. “And for category B” she started calling people up to get there ribbons”forth place Jordan Blakeley on Wind Spirit” everyone started cheering and I trotted up to get my ribbon.”And in first place Emily Oliver on Summer Feister” My partner trotted up and got her ribbon and a cover for winning. Cat C was done when got back and another team member was getting her first place ribbon and cover for winning the hack overall. Then she called out my pair and I had one the whole thing. We go up again and get another ribbon and a troffe. Then she calls out sixth fifth fourth third second and finally “HOREWHENUA HAS WON THE WHOLE THING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TEN YEARS” We all trot up and get another ribbon a cover and a troffe. We all get profechinal photos and pack up then head home.


Overall it was so fun. I can’t wait till next year !!!!!!!!!!
