Shindler’s List Reflection Post

This past week we have been watching a movie called ‘Schindler’s List’. Here is my  reflection about the movie.

From my observation I think a positive attribute will be at the end, when Oskar saved the Jews from Auschwitz. At first the commanders were only letting the adults on the train and taking the children away. When Oskar saw this happening he was quick to run over and give a reasoning to him actually needed the young children. Oskar was rather thoughtful when he reconsidered saving the Jewish lady’s parents. Oskar had rage about how people were taking his company as a saviour camp, but he later had a change of heart and we see the parents entering his company. Personally I think that since this scene Oskar’s heart had been changed. Yes, he was doing stuff beforehand but he was on and off and would always bounce back. But from this scene on wards Oskar was never ending, saving Jews. Itzhak Stern (Oskar’s assistant) to me was a helpful person in the movie. In the beginning Itzhak had been reassuring the Jews to choose Oskar’s company. Another scene was when Itzhak was filling in Oskar about everything that was going on inside the detention camp. When you think about it, Itzhak was quite an assistant. He sacrificed his life doing his job. Assistants in today’s society just have to get the paperwork done, so I feel we must be grateful that we never have to go to the extent Itzhak had to. The movie in the end left me with 2 questions, What punishments were placed to those who were apart of the Nazi Clang ? Were there any survivors founded in basements and underneath floors ?

 Sandstorms

Sandstorms are very harmful to humankind they are the number 3 weather condition that can cause serious harm to people in the US. During the 1960s eight sandstorms caused some serious damage 13 more in the 1970s 14 in the 80s and more than 20 in the 1990s. Australia was having problems with sandstorms. They cost Australia about $20 million a year in medical bills because of asthma and respiratory disease which is thought to be caused by sandstorms. So what causes sandstorms?

How are sandstorms caused?

Sandstorms occur when winds strengthen to the point where they’re able to lift grains of sand off the ground and blow them through the air. They tend to happen the most frequently in sandy areas such as deserts. For example, sandstorms are quite common in the Sahara Desert. Similar storms can arise in many areas around the world. When the top layer of soil consists primarily of dirt and rock rather than sand these storms are usually called sandstorms.

How to survive a sandstorm

So how do you survive a sandstorm? If you’re not in a place with any available buildings around to shelter you here are some tips. Don’t try to outrun it on foot. Wet a bandana or piece of cloth and place it over your nose and mouth you can use a shirt, sleeve, etc… Protect your eyes with your arm or a piece of cloth. Shield yourself from flying objects. If you’re in a car you can detour around it depending on the speed of it but a safer option is to just go find a safe place with shelter.

Black Sunday

Black Sunday was one of the worst dust storms in America’s history started as a bright clear sunny day it was April 14, 1935. People took advantage of this day by visiting people, going on picnics, aired out their house, and just enjoyed the day. But by 4 pm the skies turned black. Dust cloud came barreling on them without warning. It was so thick you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face. The cloud was over 1,000 miles long that’s 182 mount Everests or 17,600 football fields. Of those who survived that day, many came down with “dust pneumonia”. Much like a coal miner’s “black lung”, this was a build-up of dust in the lungs, leaving the sufferer with lifelong asthma and other respiratory ailments.

There are many types of weird and wild wind phenomenons hope this information report helped you understand a bit more about them and hope you enjoyed reading.

Thunderstorms

Hi, This is my information report about thunderstorms. I did this because I find that thunderstorms are interesting, beaming, and astonishing! Now here is some interesting facts and answers to commonly asked questions.

What are thunderstorms?

A storm with lightning and thunder

They are produced by a Cumulomibus————————> A dense towering vertical cloud or heaped rain.

Cloud, Usually producing heavy rain, or even hail!

Things that will happen in a Thunderstorm.

Unstable air and lift.

Moisture

Relatively warm air

Sea breezes————————–> A sea breeze is a breeze coming from a large body of water onto land!

Mountain breezes

When are thunderstorms most likely to occur?

Summer and spring.

Evenings

Afternoons

It’s very unlikely that a thunderstorm occurs in the morning Unless it was rainy/stormy

The other night.

What is the lighting?

Lightning is a bright flash of electricity produced by a thunderstorm. All thunderstorms produce lightning and are very dangerous. If you hear the sound of thunder, then you are in danger from lightning. Lightning kills and injures more people each year than hurricanes or tornadoes between 75 to 100 people.

What causes lightning?

A small bit of ice (Frozen raindrops.) in the sky hit each other at high speeds, creating an electric charge.

Know the facts.

Thunderstorms occur in every state, and every thunderstorm has lighting.

A typical thunderstorm is in 15 miles in diameter and lasts for an average of 30 minutes.

Rain can drag a storm lower to the ground, Making it more difficult and aggressive to avoid.

Hail from thunderstorms can bounce around like popcorn!

Thunderstorms are extremely heavy, One cumulonimbus cloud weighs 1 million pounds!

Some thunderstorms can rain. Frogs! I know it sounds crazy but it has happened before, When there is a lot of wind it can pick up small creatures like frogs, lizards, and other Amphibians, Reptiles.

Ending.

Thank you a lot for reading my information report about thunderstorms. Hope you enjoyed and here are some sites I got my information from:

The Schindler’s List

Introduction

Schindler’s List’ is a  historical drama based on the events of the Holocaust- From 1939 to 1945. German businessman, Oskar Schindler, is an entrepreneur, who has just moved to Kraków, Poland, to start up his factory. Consequently, World War II had just begin, meaning; the Holocaust had as well.

Positive

The movie taught me a great deal about the events of the Holocaust. Although it was extremely emotionally confronting, I felt as if Schindler’s List was very educational and I’m grateful to know a lot more about this important part of history.  Hopefully other people which watch it as well, agree to never again repeat these horrific events.

Thoughtful

Throughout the movie, it accurately demonstrates the major inequality towards Jewish people. Schindler’s List shows the traumatizing, and vile conditions Jews had to live through in the Ghettos.  This somewhat reminds me of the events happening in China today. People of Muslim religion are forced to go against their own religion, by for example; eating Pork and overall being treating unfairly- similar to the Holocaust.

Helpful

I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone over the age of 13, as it shows some mature ideas and concepts.

Question

A question which I am curious to know about Schindler’s List is; how many Schindler Jews remained in Germany and Poland, after the war ended.

Schindler’s List Summary

The holocaust is a crucial event that took the lives of many Jews and had almost wiped out the whole population . They were fortunate enough to come across one man who was able to make a change. Oskar schindler. He was able to save around 1,200 out of over six million Jews and help find justice. Even though he was very disappointed in the amount of Jews he saved, he was still able to save a good amount in order to repopulate their nation.

Oskar Schindler saved 1,200 people. I learned quite a bit even though I didn’t get the chance to watch the whole movie but what I got out of the movie, in my opinion, it’s important to learn and know about this movie.

Personally I think that the German’s or Nazi’s were very disgusting and what i mean by the word/expression “disgusting” is that it was disrespectful and ugly how you could do that to another human being even if they were a different culture and from another religion.

I recommend this movie to 14 year old and up because there is nudity and a lot of inappropriate scenes but I think it will give a lot of knowledge/affectance about how things have changed because of this Movie. Why I think that age is appropriate is because my class has seen it and we’re 14.

What was the particular reason why the Nazi’s were adamant to kill the Jews?

Schindler’s list

For the past two weeks in social studies I have been watching the movie ‘Schindler’s list’ . As I was watching the film I had to write small bits of information to use in the reflection.  I learnt about the how the Germans portrayed themselves in those times and how Jewish people were peasant people compared to the Germans. German Women were heavily involved with the war against the Jews and in the film it seemed as if they had fun with what they were doing.  I saw the different emotions from both Germans and Jews, Germans had no remorse but you had a handful who cared about the Jewish people like Oskar Schindler and the Jews were scared. Oskar Schindler was a kind man because he sacrificed himself to save the 1200 Jews. But why I thought about this for awhile thing why would a German man help Jewish people what compelled him to save those people. In the film you seen a girl in a red coat to me the red symbolises the innocence of the blood that was shed. Schindler’s List tells the true story of a Czech factory owner who saved 1,200 Jews from dying in the Nazi concentration camps. I can only imagine if we were going through something like that.
