My Hypothesis:
“Meta” wastes people’s time and ruins their social lives.
I decided to research the topic of social media. Social media is very big and I will have lots of ideas and questions to write and answer.
How is social media dangerous to people’s lives? Social media is very dangerous to people’s lives because it is very addictive. Teens these days tend to hang out online, by knowing this information, I know that these teens are ruining their social lives.
There are teens that make relationships online, such as best friends, boyfriends, and girlfriends. One of my friends had met a pretty girl online, they online dated for 2 months and decided to break up. This made both of them hate each other even though they haven’t met in real life. This is one of the biggest dangers Social Media can do.
Why is “social media” so addictive?
Social media gives a sense of social acceptance, it makes people feel that they are accepted in society. In scientific research, “social media” triggers the brain to release the feel-good chemical dopamine.
One of the biggest consequences of using media is getting cyber bullied. In this country If you’re getting scary, mean, rude, or bullying texts from someone, you can report these messages to your mobile phone company. Your phone company can send a warning message to the bully and even cut them totally off the network.
To what extent has social media been used daily by teenagers?
I made a graph using my classmate’s answers on how much they use social media for a day. 64% of the students use their phones for 1 hour or less per day. I really don’t believe that, I go on my phone for more than 3 hours a day. I use social media to talk to my friends and relatives in the Philippines and also play online games, that’s mostly it.
Based on a scientific study teenagers, who are between the ages of 8 and 12, aren’t far behind at four hours and 44 minutes daily, with teens spending an average of seven hours and 22 minutes on their phones. Sincerely, I find it quite unfortunate that we prefer to use our phones to communicate with loved ones and friends over in-person interactions. Your physical health will be bad if you use social media excessively because you won’t be spending as much time outside.
Conclusion: According to my research, “Meta” such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter have damaged our social life and waste our time. I learnt how to read time.
First I learnt what a analogue clock is and what a digital clock is. A analogue clock is a clock that is sticked on the walls at our houses. The digital clock is a clock that uses technology like on phones, netbooks, Ipads and other technology things.
Next I learnt how to tell the time on a analogue clock. For example the long hand is pointing at the twelve and the short hand is pointing at the five, so it will be 5 o, clock because if the minute hand/long hand is on the twelve it will be o’ clock.
Lastly I created a google slide and wrote five times and wrote down what time they were.
I enjoyed this task because I learnt how to tell the time. I did well on writing down the time. I need to improve on writing more times down.

Today in my blog I’m going to talking to you about what I’ve been learning in our Passion Protect. I’m in a group with Jhrnylle and Chytel. We chose to do the Blind, Deaf and Mute Challenge. During this project.

Plan: Blind, Deaf, Mute
Independent variable: Adding a bit more ingredients such as icings and we’ll be reducing the amount of sugar.
Background info ( Why you have chosen, Past Research/Activities)
Win: We’ll be using a timer, we will record each group’s time and the fastest wins.
Equipment/Ingredients: Spoon, Bowl, Flour, egg, sugar, vanilla extract, baking powder, milk, butter, food coloring, P.E equipment, baking pan and timers.
Equipment/Ingredients (icing): 1 ½ a cups coles soft icing mixture, sifted
Method: Prepare baking pans, preheat the oven, stir all the dry ingredients together, combine the butter and sugar, then the eggs one at a time, combine wet and dry ingredients then put the batter in the pan.
Icing Method: Mix the icing sugar, butter and milk all together in a medium bowl until it is all smooth. Add just a touch of milk or water to get it a glossier consistency. Then add some food coloring (just enough). Now mix.
Hypothesis: We think the cake will fail, we are aware that we’re still able to communicate but one sense will be missing for each of us.

First we got a back ground then added a tree after that we added ornaments to the tree then we made a window frame then finally we added snow flakes.
I learnt how to be inclusive to people.
First I brainstormed on the different things we can do or say. For example: “Do You want to join?” We also needed to tell a story when we were being inclusive. For example: I was playing with my friends and i saw a little girl that was alone so i said ” Would you like to play with us?” and she said yes and joined us.
Next I learnt the benefits of being inclusive to someone. One of the benefits of being inclusive are being known for a nice person.
I enjoyed this task because I learnt different ways to be inclusive to others. I need to improve on the benefits of being inclusive.

DFI journey continued today. The progress of intelligence in technology is mind blowing. About 35 years ago I visited Xanadu House in Florida, I recall learning that in the future you would just have your dinner cooked for you. I wonder if my understanding as a child got a little off track and maybe it is the fact we can online order our groceries and have them delivered to home. Whatever it was, the house idea was first thought of in the 1950’s and I visited in the 1980’s. I find it interesting how people had these ideas well before they were able to be created and a very long time before they eventually become reality to everyday people. I find it unthinkable the life in the 50’s would come up with some of the things we have everyday access to today. Wow, what next? While on a break today I came across this article on Facebook, great timing for today.
I explored some coding things today, and really liked the Bee Bot idea, I can see how I can use this around Maori Myth’s and legends. I could create pictures to set a scene from a story, and have students programme the Bee Bot to get from one place to another, this would also bee good for them to understand how difficult the journey taken many years ago were, including how navigators may have got of course and had to give things another go.
I tried squeezing pictures into code, wow, so tricky to count and put the right numbers in the right place. The instructions are simple to understand but carrying out the actions are quite hard, I can see how easy but technical coding is. We also tried Guess the sentence, these came from CS UNPLUGGED@home.I like the look of these activities and see how I can use them in the classroom. I could select one, to use, play, teach and work on it everyday for a while, then bring in a new one. I think my class would really like these. This is my attempt at debugging code and making my own code to write my name in sheets.
I am keen to explore Katuku Island, I even sent a link to my classroom TA’s to check out if they got some time.

I revised on how to summarise on a book called Bendy Wendy. I saw some key words that will tell big parts of the story in fewer sentences.
First I read a story called Bendy Wendy. The story is about three vehicles that are trapped in a fire and telling what to do in case of a fire emergency.
Next, I wrote 20 keywords and chose six that will tell the whole story in fewer sentences.
Lastly, I wrote the story in fewer sentences.
I enjoyed writing the story. What I did well was writing 20 keywords. I need to improve on choosing six key words.
I decoded 8 analogue clock into sentences.
First I learnt about analogue clocks. analogue clocks are physical clocks that are round and have three hands. The smallest one is the hour hand, the medium hand is the minute hand, and the longest hand is the second hand. On the right side of the clock is called”past”. For example: 20m past 8h. On the left side of the clock is “to”/until. For example: 40m to/until 9h.
Lastly I decoded 8 analogue clocks. most of them were easy for me because there was a clock template for me to figure them out. The sixth one is kind of tricky the spot because it looks like the hour hand was on seven.

Firstly I added a nice background.
Secondly I made a tree using the curve line.
Thirdly I added Christmas decorations by searching for Christmas Ordainment texture and masking it to a circle.
In addition to the last I used Format Options to change the colour.
Furthermore I used the plus and frame shapes to make a window.
Finally I used the 32 star shape for snow.
