Howdy, everyone! Before we start, how is your day going?
Last week on Friday, July 24, my buddy Savannah and I worked together on a class project. Our teacher, Jess, gave us a Lego person and a challenge: build a contraption to see if the Lego person could safely slide down a string.
We used several materials:
- Straws and popsicle sticks
- Tape, scissors, and cardboard paper
- String, a paper clip, and a hole punch
We made a boat that looked like an old sailor hat out of cardboard paper. We left a space for the Lego person to lie down and enjoy the ride, and we put tape over it to keep him secure and safe. Next, we used the hole punch to make eight holes for the string. We set up the string to hold the boat like a purse and tied it together, leaving a small gap for a paper clip to hook on and hold the Lego person as he went down the string.
Once we finished our project, we put the Lego inside. Savannah and I went first because we were really happy with our design and wanted to test it out. Before letting it go, we took some photos. Then we let it go! We were both pretty happy because the Lego person survived and the ride went smoothly.
Afterwards, we watched how everyone else did. Some projects survived, and some did not. But it is always okay when things do not go to plan, because everyone handles hardship differently, and rest and survival are valid victories.
