Last week was Cook Island Language Week which we celebrated by hosting a special assembly. We practiced and sung “Tangata Huruhuru” which was fun to sing as it is also in paumotu and tahitian. We only needed to practice the song for a day or 2 as thanks to our classmate Nio and Jeremiah, they helped us learn the lyrics and how to pronounce all of the islander words that others couldn’t understand or pronounce. There were banjo groups and our teacher Miss Jessie who helped us set up and told us a traditional story. Thank you to everyone who helped set up the Assembly!
