Hello bloggers, on today’s blog we made a purerehua. purerehua is a traditional Māori taonga puoro that makes a whirring or buzzing sound when you spin it in the air on a string. Here is a picture of my purerehua, it’s not really good because I didn’t have that much time to decorate my Purerehua.

A purerehua are a traditional musical instrument. They are usually made using stone, bone, or wood, but I made mine using a cardboard box. The design on mine shows that I like chiikawa.
When I spun my purerehua fast, when I spun my purerehua slowly, the pitch was lower because it spun slowly and it created slow vibration. Sound waves can have different frequencies and amplitude. The amplitude of a wave changes its volume, while the frequency and wavelength change its pitch. To make a loud, high pitch sound with my pūrerehua, I would spin it very fast with all of my strength.
