ast term in Te Ngahere our class was making a minecraft ecosystem. I think it’s important to learn about how everything connects in the ecosystem so that we can see what happens in the ngahere and to see what contain in our ecosystems. In our ecosystem we have a river, in the river we added cod for eels, some other thing we added was a pukeko, pollinators (bees), a fox, a kereru,a pohutukawa, a karkara and a kauri. Something new I learned when we were making our build was that when sun bring light to the trees that is called photosynthesis. Some problems we had was the eyes on the birds, the way that we fixed that problem was using buttons. The part in our build I am most proud of is the pukeko because it looks like the most realistic one. If I did this again I would add more things, but overall I like our build. I hope people will learn about decomposers  in our screen recording.

For the past several weeks in Te Ngahere we have been learning about the Nghahere (forest) and its ecosystem. After learning about consumers, producers and decomposers, we built our own ecosystem with examples of mutualism and what I have explained above. We built them on Minecraft Education Edition. Our Minecraft world shows decomposers such as worms and mushrooms breaking down organic matter, producers such as trees and plants photosynthesising. It also shows consumers/animals in glass cages so they can be viewed without them escaping. The mutualism that is shown is a Tui and a tree. The Tui gains food and a home from the tree, and the tree gains the Tui’s seed dispersing ability to grow more trees in a vast area distribution. Thinking back I think our progress each day that was made on the world was good. The one thing that could be better was to get a better recording than the one we ended up with. Last term in Te Ngahere, we were learning about the ngahere ecosystem. Alongside with learning about the ngahere ecosystem, we also built it in minecraft. In my minecraft world, I built producers, consumers, decomposers, and how mutualism works. I showed how mutualism works by having a bird eat a fruit off a tree, then the seed gets digested, and gets dropped into a different area. When this happens, the tree benefits from the bird by getting to populate in a different area, and the bird benefits from the tree by getting to have a place to stay, and eat. The one thing that I built in minecraft that I was most proud of was the trees. Its my favorite because I had to build a lot of them to make my forest look like an actual forest. I hope that people will learn about mutualism from my video, because mutualism is heavily relied on for the trees in NZ.

For the past few weeks we have been learning about the ngahere and we had to make a build of the ecosystem in minecraft.. We learnt about abiotic factors, biotic factors, mutualism and all the important parts to ecosystems. I think it’s important to learn about how everything in an ecosystem is connected because each part of the ecosystem is important. They are all important because they make like a big web and all the parts are a tiny little section to the web and you need all the bits to make one whole web and the whole web is like the ecosystem you need all the bits to make up an ecosystem. In our minecraft build we presented abiotic factors, biotic factors and also native animals and pests. We presented consumers by adding in a bird eating a worm. We showed producers by by adding in the sun and also a big kauri tree that we built. We made decomposers by adding in a worm. we didn’t have anything native in our build. We built the kiwi to be a consumer and built the kauri tree to be a producer. The new things I learnt about ecosystems was pretty much everything that I’m writing right now. The challenges we faced in minecraft was making the animals and the big tree and we solved the problem by taking our time and not rushing too much. The part of the build that I am most proud is the big kauri tree because it took up the most time and It was my biggest build of the entire ecosystem. If I could change if add something I would add in more animals like birds. I hope people can learn how to make some cool trees and some cool birds from watching our screen recording.  It helps people understand how special and balanced our Nz ngahere is by seeing all the different parts that go into a ecosystem.

Last term in Te Ngahere we had make a minecraft build about the ngahere around us. Before we even started we had to do some research about the ngahere, like what the roles were, what lives it and what an ecosystem even is. I think that it was quite important to learn about that sort of thing because we needed to understand how it all worked before we could try make one. My minecraft world shows some of the pests, native animals and plant. We also added producers by putting trees in. We added consumers by putting a kiwi eating a worm. We added Decomposers by adding worms. We added endemic and introduced thing like rats and kiwi so we could make it more like our ngahere. We didn’t add mutualism (Which is where animals and plants work together) because we couldn’t find away. I didn’t really learn anything, I was more reminded about what we did in the past. A big problem that we faced was making our huge kauri tree look real. We solved that problem by just going back a forth until it look good enough. I am most proud of the big kauri tree because in the end I thought the it looked quite cool. I don’t think the I would add anything or change anything because what did was all that we were capable of doing. I don’t think anyone will learn much from our recording because we recorded it in away that we were just telling what was there. It helps people understand how special and balanced our New Zealand ngahere is because it shows all the animals and plants in it.

Lately in Te Ngahere we have been learning about the ngahere ecosystem. For example, we learnt about mutualism. Mutualism is when a bird eats a berry from a tree, then the bird flies around and eventually poops out the seed with a bit of soil, which plants a new tree in another area. So, the bird benefits from the tree and the tree benefits from the bird.

To show our learning, we made a minecraft world where we had to make an ecosystem containing consumers, decomposers, producers, and pollinators. Before we made our minecraft world, we took a walk up school road to see a proper ngahere. After we had our walk up the ngahere, we started to create our ngahere ecosystem.

A problem I faced was when the owner of the world was away. So we couldn’t do anything, because we needed the owner to open up the world. Another thing I found tricky was making birds like tui’s and kereru’s.

While we were building in minecraft, I learnt that there are more pollinators other than bees. Such as tui, butterflies and so much more. I think in my group I don’t necessarily have a favourite thing about my world i’m more so proud on how my group worked together.

I hope when people watch my screen recording they will know what decomposer consumers and producers are.

Recently in Te Ngahere, We’ve been really busy with movie making and science fair. We were assigned to make a movie including a Taonga. Our plan was to have two robbers break into a famous person’s house  in order to steal a precious Taonga that could control the tides of Aotearoa. Our taonga was Maui’s hook that he used to fish up the North Island. I personally think my group did really well although it was really busy due to science fair. Our plan matched are movie good enough to know what was happening. We faced a challenge that we were unsure that we could fix. Our challenge was the absence of our famous celebrity for the whole week!  And also we couldn’t a hat for the police (AKA me) So in order to get a hat, we had to reach out for help by a teacher. However, that didn’t stop us from using resilience and finding a solution. Another challenge was finding somebody who could replace the absence of one of our people. In the end, we found somebody perfect who could replace the celebrity with the Taonga. My group worked together almost perfectly, We all stayed on task most of the time, Helped each other with the slides and made sure our ipad was ready and charged (sometimes). I learned that in order to have success you need to ask for help, because without asking for help you’ll have to stay in. My group and I did really well on staying focused but not 100% of the time, and not mucking around, which i’m really grateful for. Although, my group could’ve done better on props, only because our props were off, and we didn’t have a police outfit. My advice to the next years film makers is to pick a group that has a good attendance and will work really well together, 

Over the last few weeks TeNgahere has been making movies, my movie was about aliens getting trapped on earth.
Our plan helped us figure out what we needed and what we had to say.
we had to change some of the script because we realized some of our scripts did not make sense.
Our plan was really helpful but we just needed to change some of the things we needed to say, our biggest challenge was when Sara-may(Someone from my movie group) wasn’t here, so we had to improvise and just edit.
Luckily Sara-may wasn’t here when we didn’t really need her for the movie, only thing we needed her for was when we did the introduction.
I have to admit we were mucking around sometimes but we didn’t give up and we finished our movie and that’s what i’m most proud of.
I learned some stuff about group work like I work kind of good when my group were discussing the plan/script. I think we and my group did well when it came to discussion, because we tried to help each other.

I think we and my group could’ve done better when it comes to checking our editing because when we were editing we realized we forgot to put in some of the film. My advice to the next years film makers is, try get into groups of people you are comfortable with and if you need to do something outside do it immediately because you never know when it will start raining.

Recently in Te Ngahere, we have been very busy with movie making and science fair. We had to make a movie about a Taonga. Our plan was about a famous and rich influencer who had a very precious Taonga. It was the hook that Maui used to fish up the North Island. I think we did very well with matching our movie to our plan because we had the same scenes we talked about. Some challenges we faced were that we didn’t bring our costumes some days so we had to record it again BUT after that we came in our other costumes. To solve this problem we recorded in both outfits and used the outfit that recorded the most lines. Another challenge we faced was microphones and not speaking loud enough. Since we had masks on, we couldn’t hear ourselves properly on the iPad and it was a big problem. To overcome this challenge we had to talk louder so they could hear our words properly. The last challenge we had was when people were away so we had to swap some people out for different actors. Me and my group worked pretty well together aside from some of them mucking around in the background. I learnt that you shouldn’t always work with your friends because you can get distracted and stuff. Something my group did well was actually finish our movie and intervene when somebody wasn’t here. If we were to do this movie again we could have done more dynamic shots and use better backgrounds. Some advice I would like to give is always leave your costumes here and make it make sense. Another piece of advice I would give is try and pick a group you will work well with and are guaranteed to finish with. This is my movie, I hope you like it!!

 Over the last few weeks in Te Ngahere have been doing movie making. Our starting plan matched our final movie okay, but there was some down sides. Some of our down sides were that in some places in our movie it didn’t really make sense, or it was just confusing. Some of our problems were really bad, like when our main character had forgot his tie for one of the parts. Or when someone else forgot to bring the right top for one of the scenes, so the next time we looked at our movie we saw that the top changed in some parts of the movie. We fixed the tie problem by getting the character to ask himself where his tie was. I think our group worked pretty well together but sometimes it didn’t really go the best. Something I learned about group work is always chose different people not only your friends. Something I think our group did well was working together and concentrating on our movie. Something our group could of done better is to share and concentrate on the story line. Some advice I would give is to use microphone if you have one in your class.

Finally after the last couple of weeks in Te Ngahere, Movie making has finally come to an end (for most of us), and with that comes the voting on who goes to the big screen. But before all that I want a moment to talk about our movie making journey. First we started with thinking of ideas, so then we started our plan. Our plan to our final movie was quite different to our final movie in many ways but that was mainly because of how long our film could be. For my group the most challenge things we faced was time management and time constraints (by that I mean how long our movie could be), yet we overcame them by taking unnecessary parts out and recording what we needed the most first. My group worked well together as we were good students so we knew not to muck around and work together, although we did allow ourselves to have some fun. I believe what my group did well, was getting what we needed when we could. To be honest we need to think about how long thing would get and how long we have, as we had to take parts off our script. If you are going to make movies next year here are some big tip for you, number one get things done when you can and number two think about how long you have and how long your movie would be at after writing the script.

These past 6 weeks, in Te Ngahere we have been making movies for the movie film festival in Kerikeri. Our topic this year was taonga o te ao, or treasures of the world. Comparing my original plan from the final movie, I would say that their pretty similar. The only noticeable difference, is that one of the original characters that was supposed to be a boy, became a girl. It was because that person wasn’t at school very often. We didn’t want to stress over it, so we replaced him.  There were quite a few challenges we faced as we were making our movie, but a few of the major ones were, finding the correct backgrounds, having people not being at school, and having a confusing storyline. We did solve our problems in the end, like having to give a role to somebody else because the original person was away too much. I would say that my group worked very well together, because we were all in the same group for movie making last year as well. Something that my group did well was communicating with each other with parts that didn’t fit well, or having ideas on what to do better. Something that my group could’ve done better was to make the storyline more understandable, since there were parts of the movie that didn’t really make sense, or were confusing to others. Advice I would give to next years film makers is to choose a simple storyline. The reason for this is that having a simple storyline will give you more opportunities to add in funny parts, and will let you focus more on the filming, than having to worry if the movie makes sense.

    A few weeks ago Te Ngahere started to make movies and yesterday we watched them. I think our groups movie was good but it wasn’t what we planned to do though because we forgot to film a part. We faced some problems on the way like the rain people not being here in our group and some other stuff. Our group worked pretty well with each other. Something I learnt about group work is that that you should let everyone in your group speak to give their ideas. Our group worked together well by not arguing that much about the movie. Something our group could of done better is bring better costumes. Advice I would give to people making movies next year would be to stick to the plan, choose a group that doesn’t play around and do their work.

This term we were doing movie making. When we first started we had to make a plan on what we were going to do. I think our group followed plan quite well but we did make a couple changes when we were recording. The main challenge that we faced was, at the start the person that we had as one of the main characters was away lots so we had to swap him out for different roles. I think our group worked really well together because we all know each other well and it was the same group as last year (You will recognize us if you went to the cinemas last year). I learnt that my group works really well together because we all have the same work ethic and we don’t argue about anything. I think our group did well at making a movie that made sense and making it kind of funny (that was my opinion). I don’t really think that there was match that we could do better because we got it finished and we worked really well together.

My advice for the groups next year would be, to choose a group that you know that you work well with and you can finish things to a high standard. Also listen to the teachers they know what they are doing.

This term we had science fair going on. For science fair we had to make a board about a topic to help people fix their problems. 

Last week all the groups finished their science board and then they got judged. 

 Our aim was how well various toothpaste would remove stains from eggs that have stained overnight in coffee. We chose that topic because we wanted to help people remove stains from their teeth. Our hypothesis was that Oral-B would do the best because it had an odourless whitening powder which experts say helps make your teeth white. We thought that Sensodyne would remove the stains the worst because when we researched about it, it said Sensodyne helps make your teeth stronger not whiter. Our hypothesis was kinda right and kinda wrong, the best toothpaste to remove stain was Oral-B, and the one that did the least amount of stain removing was Macleans. Something I learned was the different types of variables in science, the different types of variables are controlled variables, dependent variables, independent variables. Something I would do differently next time would be to have up our research on our board so that it would show evidence, one more thing I would do is have a logbook in front of the science board. I am really proud of everything we did our work paid off well. 

 In Te Ngahere for the past few weeks we have been working on science fair projects. The whole class finished them last week and showed them to  the judges on Friday, but sadly I was sick on that day and did not get to see our board get judged.

Our aim for our science project was to see which washing powder can remove stains the best. Our hypothesis was that we believed that Persil Ultimate is going to take the stain out of the white sheet the best. We thought that because the ingredients on Persil Ultimate says it has enzymes like Protease, amylase and Lipase which breaks down protein, starch, and fat stains. Our hypothesis was correct because Persil Ultimate took out the most stains. We learned that Protease, amylase, and Lipase removes stains really well from clothing. Next year to be make sure i’m more successful i’m going to make sure I finish fast and not do too much social talking. I am proud that me and my group were the first ones finished and while everyone else was finishing their boards, we got to do whatever we wanted. 

Recently in Te Ngahere, we were  caught up in our science fair. Our aim for our science fair was to find out which type of milk lasted the longest, and we chose our topic because we wanted to find out which type of milk to buy in order to stop wasting money on milk that doesn’t last long. Our hypothesis was the UHT milk because it was long life milk and it would last very long. Our hypothesis was proven wrong because the almond milk lasted the longest. We learned that almond milk has less sugar, therefore it takes longer for bacteria to grow. If we were to do this next year I would get a measuring jug instead of the cups that hold 1 cup etc. I would also change what we keep the milk in.  I am proud of my group for being here almost every day. I am also proud of my group for checking on our experiment at the same time every day. 

Recently, in Te Ngahere we have been doing science fair. We are testing, different types of washing powders to see which one is the best for removing stains. 

I chose this topic because I want to help parents save their money on washing powder that doesn’t even  take the stain out.

Our hypothesis is that we thought persil ultimate would wash the stain out the best because our research  told us that persil ultimate contains ingredients  to remove stains. 

My hypothesis was correct because we researched what was in persil ultimate, persil ultimate contains enzymes like protease, amylase and lipase which breaks down protein. 

I learnt that a controlled variable is the variable that you have to control through your experiment.

Something We would  do differently  next year is to do stains that kids actually spill on their clothes.

I am proud of finishing the board and being the first one finish.

Today in Te Ngahere we showed our science projects. Our aim was to see what washing powder is the best to remove stains .Me and my group chose our topic to help our parents with washising clothing etc. Our hypothesis was that persil ultimate was the best for removing stains because it contains enzymes like protease, amylase and lipase which breaks down protein, starch and fat stains.
