Plan – Lighting/Colour
In the scene ‘seeds from the sacred tree’, lighting and colour are used to create an other worldly feel. This is demonstrated through the vibrant, neon and biolumenescent colours of the Na’vi world. These colours included cyan, magenta, greens, blues, pinks and purples whch are appear natural to this environment, but foreign to ours. This makes the audience feel like they are on another planet, one that id mystical, fantastical and ethereal. This purpose of this was to show the extreme changes that Jake, a paraplegic human, experienced as he adjusts to a new body and world. Combined with the use of extravgant colours, is that of lighting to show life when a living object is touched, it generates a bright, cold light that sends them in the right direction. This reminds me of biolumdnescent organsim such as algae and jellyfish that produce their own glowing light. If creatures like these actually exsist on earch, it makes the idea of a planet populated by them more realistic to the viewer.
