New Zealand Government Key Terms

Today in social studies, the topic we have been learning about is the New Zealand Government Key Terms but before that, we had to write the definitions in our own words, (no copy-paste). and then share our learning to our blog. i will be now writing my definitions-=)

 

Term Your Definition Actual Definition
Prime Minister A prime minister is the head of the people, the official head of a cabinet or ministry especially. A prime minister, premier or chief of cabinet is the head of the cabinet and the leader of the ministers in the executive branch of government.
Act The Prime minister acts as the leader of the house of the chamber of parliament. An Act is a law passed by Parliament. 
Bill A Bill government is a type of government that states money owed for goods or services supplied. A bill is proposed legislation under consideration by a legislature. A bill does not become law until it is passed by the legislature as well as, in most cases, approved by the executive. Once a bill has been enacted into law, it is called an act of the legislature, or a statute.
Candidate A candidate is the prospective recipient of an award or honor. A person who applies for a job or is nominated for election.
Coalition government A coalition government is a multi-party state, as a  coalition agreement is an agreement negotiated between the parties that is a form of a coalition government. A coalition government is a form of government in which political parties cooperate to form a government.
Crown A crown government is another way of referring to the monarchy. It is used to designate the monarch in either a personal capacity, as Head of the Commonwealth, or as the king or queen of their realms
Electorate A electorate general is a political voting election where generally all or most members of a given political body are chosen. All the people in a country or area who are entitled to vote in an election.
General Election A general Election is a part of winners from the primary election running against each other. A general election is a political voting election where generally all or most members of a given political body are chosen. These are usually held for a nation, state, or territory’s primary legislative body, and are different from by-elections.
Governor-General A Governor-General is a governor of a high rank, which is one who governs a large territory or has a deputy governor under him  Governor-general, or governor general, is the title of an office-holder. In the context of governors-general and former British colonies, governors-general are appointed as viceroy to represent the monarch of a personal union in any sovereign state over which the monarch does not normally reign in person.
MP A MP is the person who is elected by all those who live in a particular area (constituency) to represent them in the house of commons. A member of parliament (MP) is the representative in parliament of the people who live in their electoral district. In many countries with bicameral parliaments, this term refers only to members of the lower house since upper house members often have a different title.
MMP A MMP is where New Zealand voters have two cotes. the first vote is the electorate vote and the second is the electorate cote witch works on a plurality system whereby which ever candidate gets the greatest number of votes in each electorate wins the seat Mixed-member proportional representation (MMP or MMPR) is a mixed electoral system in which votes cast are considered in local elections and also to determine overall party vote tallies, which are used to allocate additional members to produce or deepen overall Proportional representation.
Opposition  A opposition is formed by the largest part or coalition of parties that does not have the support of the majority or member in the house of representatives. The opposition is sometimes called the alternative government because it could form government if it was to win the support of the majority of members.
Parliament The president has the power to summon and prorogue either house of parliament. Parliament is the supreme legislative body of India. The Indian Parliament comprises of the President and the two Houses – Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and Lok Sabha (House of the People).
