Dave’s TOD Thoughts – 27/01/2023

First official day back at College and introduced to the “4 Musketeers”.  We’ve got Ruth, Ngaire, Kerry and Patsy there to provide assistance with all matters of teaching / learning / pedagogy etc.   Come to think of it we’ll also have Susan Arrowsmith on board so now they’re the “Fab Five”.  Narelle there to offer assistance as well perhaps makes for the “Super 6”.

Teaching can be challenging at times and changes in education makes for quite a fluid environment so having a support crew on board should alleviate and address those challenges.  Need to not hesitate to make use of their support otherwise countless hours can get away from you trying to figure things out on the go.

It was interesting listening to individual “moments in education” that had profound impacts on our teaching staff in one way or another.   Some of it was just sad reading / listening  but one appreciates the power of positive, caring relationships with students leading to high academic and personal growth /  development outcomes.

Our “Hoe” activity was worthwhile and provided an opportunity to look within and express one’s own strengths and qualities.  I am a value driven person and will always fall back on those and use them to drive my practices.  Still learning to remain calm in a storm.

It’s been a very productive and worthwhile day.
