Prologue
Ice shuddered while running across
the vast wasteland of dust and ground, As Furn and Storm hawked behind. In the distance, Three wolves from MudPack stood on the other side of the lake. It was Their
leader, Leaf, And Tsunami, And Moon. Ice Stared longingly at Moon and she stared back.
Storm and Furn were in love too, but it was forbidden for a healer to have pups or anything.
Furn furiously tried to swipe at Ice, the traitor. Moon was unseen from her leader, but Ice knew what they were going to do.
Moon Raced off to the side, and before anyone could react, Ice turned and slashed Storm on his flank. I just need to escape. Why did you leave me Flame… Why did I go crazy…
His sides heaved as he bowled into a nearby hole. He suddenly realised it was the Home of Spirits, and ran deeper and deeper until he reached the untouched for centuries, Pawprints of Traitor Betrayal. He did it, he was not part of his clan anymore. An outlore at last. They had to stop running after him now, because he wasn’t in the clan.
The crystals next to him glowed amber, and deeper to red. Not again… Ice fell to the ground, and everything went black.
“Ice! Ice?” A female voice shuddered the cave walls. The him-wolf gasped as paws stood on his, and saw Moon glancing over him. “Moon! You made it!” Ice mewled weakly. His sides were crusted with dry blood, and he was dizzy with pain.
“Ice… We…” Moon looked down while a wolf walked into the den. It was… Betrayal. “Betrayal?” Ice mewed, staring into the eyes of the him-wolf. Moon looked primitive, and sad. Relaxing was a weird thing to be feeling at this moment…
Ice realised. Moon wanted him to die. Why Moon… Moon stared at him, and explained. “I was never meant to love you in the first place. We were meant to murder my leader, and another wolf had to be in the prosess. So I pretended to be with you at first, but now… The plan was to kill the wolf that was part of it. Betrayal’s spirit is helping, and he happened to be related to me. I said I would give him the body of the
wolf that was there, and… well I don’t want to now. But I don’t know who should live, Me or You. Please say Me…” She finished. “I know what to do…” Ice rasped and Betrayal stood smiling murderously over him, but not ready yet… “Moon. Please have my pups, and bring them to my pack. I’ll let myself be taken by Betrayal,” He paused and looked at the spirit. “But I want my blood to go on. Please, and my last words: I’ll always be watching over you.”
He finished, then Betrayal’s spirit tooth shone in front of his eyes, and a stab of pain entered him… Then everything he ever knew disappeared and everything went black.
Chapter 1
Midnight woke up to a world full of sunlight and warmth, and saw Sky lying beside her and smiling.
“What day is it today?” She asked. “I think it’s… you guessed it… The day we become hunters!” Sky mewed. Midnight and Sky were siblings; and there was one other who was the runt of the litter. The runt was called Ice, named after his father that they never met. Midnight was the only female wolf in the litter. Their mother, Moon, wouldn’t tell them what happened to their father.
