Kia ora today I finished my social studies Assessment about WW One Perspectives where we had to write a letter/ note/ or in a diary.
here is mine.
Dear diary, today at 1:45 I received a conscription notice, which means I may be forced to go to war. However if you refuse you could potentially end up in jail. People that refused to go to war because of their religion are called Conscientious Objector. I don’t want to join because I am a Conscientious Objector. It is against my beliefs, religion, etc… to participate in war and intentionally harm/kill others ,I could never do that even if I was forced to. I have 3 kids and I’m only 35. I don’t want to miss out on watching them grow up because of a war started by disagreements. I hope they understand and don’t punish me for my religious beliefs. They have already imprisoned so many people because they object to going to war because of their reasons. I’ve always been taught to avoid inflicting pain to others, and it would be a letdown if I were to go against that now. I have chosen not to go to war now. I am paying the price. Unfortunately I am imprisoned. Life in prison isn’t that nice but it’s better than going to war. I can’t see why they can’t see it from my perspective. All I want to do is live a happy life, start a farm and raise my kids but they had different plans for me. It’s not what I had in mind but at least I can still go to church in my free time and do bible study. They have taken everything away from me, my family, my freedom, etc…
One day this will end and I will not be imprisoned. I will be reunited with my family until then lots of love James.
