Parvana Written by Deborah Ellis
This book is about a girl named Parvana who is 11 years old and lives in Afghanistan with her family. They live in Kabul (the capital of Afghanistan). Kabul is a terrible city.
In the 2000 the Taliban came. The Taliban are the new government in Kabul. If you were a thief and you were in jail you would get your hand cut off for a punishment. They would cut off your hand you use the most like eating, picking up things etc.
Parvana is a great book for age 8-14. I rate it 5 stars.
