Global Slavery
You may think that global slavery has lessen throughout the years, but unfortunately it has increased OVER the years and has gotten worse. Even if it is lessening it is still there and it’s so unnoticeable because of how good countries hide it. In about the past few 5 years, modern slavery has increasingly risen, there are more than there were from the old slavery. As for a comparison in 2021 there were an estimate of 10 million people in slavery comparing too 2016. That’s how terrible it is, because then that would mean there were still a lot before 2016. And now in 2023 there is about an estimate of 49.6 million people in the modern slavery, it just keeps multiplying in 10’s and keeps getting bad.
It is and will be in every corner around the world, it’s just in plain sight. The worse case of which country that has a pretty high prevalence rate of slavery is North Korea. It is about 104.6, and the number of people that are in NK is over 2 million, but their number is negative so that would mean they are actively convincing people. In Eritrea the population is 320,000 and the prevalence rate is 90.3, which is really bad especially when there aren’t that many people.
Global slavery involves a lot of movements including forced labour which is very common, sexual exploitation of both children and adults, human trafficking, forced, marriage, debt bondage and more… Modern slavery thrives in silence, and what’s more concerning is that we don’t know if the government is even doing anything about it. Is it too overwhelming for them? how increasingly active is it?
