Some things that I learned about Poi are that it was originally made for the men, later on the women took over and now in some cultures its tapu for men to use Poi.
The most frustrating part of making Poi was getting the four strand plait started, because when I first started mine I started doing the wrong pattern and had to restart.
I now have a new skill that I have been using at home to make my whanau Poi.
