Literacy Matariki Fiction

Once there was a small family living in a small town house, they wanted to get more land, but they just couldn’t afford it, and they hated living in such a small house. They had a boy that was a year 7, a year 9 and a year 13. The year 13 did not like the idea of moving into land because he would probably have to get homeschooled which he wouldn’t like because he would not have school friends, and he also does very well in school. The other boys loved the idea of moving and loved going to their grandparents farms.

One day the oldest boy got back from school, and they were all gone. The whole family, like they just disappeared. The boy at home called the police straight away. When they got there they could not find a single trace that could help track them down. The only vehicle seen there last was a courier van the day before they left, so it was a big mystery. The police started a search around the area but still, no sign of them. They took their car wherever they went, so it must have been a decent distance away from them so the search was spread even further away from the house.

Here they were, the rest of the family were going up into the deep bush to spend some time doing things they love. They thought that if they went into the bush they basically had almost all the land there. To themselves except for a few hunters using it. The only things they took from with them were the following: Sleeping bags, hiking bags, rifle, lighter, knives, some food and a little hatchet. This Would be enough for them to live comfortably for quite a while. If they got around four deer it could last them a month, so they tried to get one every week. It had been five weeks, and they were living fine without any problems, and it seemed like they could stay there forever.

Soon things changed. They ran out of ammo and could not really hunt without it. They had knives, but it would be too risky to hunt with those. There were probably some wild blackberries, but I don’t think you can live on them. They decided they would finish their last food and then head out. Heading out wasn’t too bad for them because they had a good map but there were some changes in the tracks from when they went in like avalanches or fallen trees. They had their Ute parked in a hidden bush far away from where any other vehicles would be so no one would find it. When they got there they packed their gear in and they were on their way.

Now they are home. Their house had not been sold but was for sale because everyone thought they were dead. As soon as people saw them they started making phone calls to the police and the police found them in no time. The police had so many questions, so they had to keep them at the station for two nights just to figure out where they were and why they went. They didn’t believe the reasons why they actually left and thought they tried to abandon their son, but they just left home because they knew he would not like it. He was not happy with them because he felt like they just didn’t like him and liked it without him. It took a few weeks to work it out but eventually they gave them a big fine and an ankle bracelet that attacked them wherever they go, so the police will know where they are if they try to leave. After a while they decided that they needed to live how the oldest would like to. After a while of saving they saved enough to buy land that was actually near their school so the oldest was still happy.

This is one out of 4 pieces of writing I have had to do in the last few weeks. I have to do a Fiction (this one), non – fiction, other and then we choose to do a nother twice because there are three different types of each one. On this piece, the first time I wrote it I had really bad structure so I used the same ideas But tried to structure it better. I think it turned out way better than it was at the the start. I think this is the best out of all of my pieces that I made. What do you think of it?
