What we have been learning.

Social Studies

In my social studies class, we’ve been delving into the fascinating world of government and leadership. Our lessons have covered a wide range of topics, from the principles of democracy to the characteristics of effective leaders. We’ve explored different types of government systems, including monarchies, dictatorships, and republics, and examined the roles and responsibilities of elected officials. Additionally, we’ve analyzed the qualities that make a leader successful, such as communication skills, decision-making abilities, and empathy. Through our studies, we’ve gained a deeper understanding of how governments function and how leaders shape the direction of their countries.

Food tech

During my time in food technology, I had the opportunity to develop new methods for creating a variety of dishes. One of my favorite experiences was making noodles from scratch – they were absolutely delicious and a real game-changer! I’d love to recreate that recipe again someday.

If you’re considering Bay of Islands College, I highly recommend taking food technology. It’s an exceptional program, especially for year 9 and 10 students. Whaea Honey is an outstanding teacher who truly cares about her students success. If you’re lucky enough to have her as your teacher, you’ll be in good hands. Just be warned she has high standards, but her feedback is always positive and will help you improve your skills – even if she does have a special way of expressing herself when you’re not meeting expectations!”
