The Three mystrious stones of tonga

Today is Tonga’n lauguages week I have been learning about the three stones of Tonga! It is so exciting look below because it’s about to start.

In Tonga a small village called Niutōua and where Niutōua there were three large stones two were up straight and one lying on top. And the structure is called the Ha‘amonga ‘a Maui. And it is known as the trilithon. Some people call it the king’s stone clock.

WHEN WAS IT BUILT.

People have so many different Idears like the Ha‘amonga was built 800 years ago or 1,ooo years ago when Tonga got its name.

WHO BUILT IT.

Because the stones were very big people believed Ha‘amonga was built by Maui which only a god could build it.

WHY WAS IT BUILT

Well, it was built for his three children. The two stones that are standing up it his two sons and the one that is lying across is the daughter.

HOW DID THEY BUILD IT.

  1. People cut big blocks of rocks.
  2. Then hundreds of people drag the stones.
  3. They dug two holes.
  4. Once the two stones are standing up they use earth to make a ramp.
  5. Then they drag the lintel stone up.
  6. After that, they took away the earth ramp.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HA’AMONGA TODAY.

The Ha‘amonga ‘a Maui is significant to them

HAPPY TONGA’N LANGUAGE WEEK.
