Last week my class and I went to Gumdiggers Park down the road from our school and it was awesome. We went because we wanted to learn more about Kauri trees and to have fun.
My mum drove my best friend Anahera, and my friends, LJ, Tia and me there.
When we got there we got into 5 groups. In my group, there was Nitya, Trae, Mason.n and Isla.
When we were in our groups we cleaned our shoes and then walked along a bush track. There were Kauri trees and gum holes. One of the gum holes you could walk down into. One of the boys in my class, Chase, found not one but two pieces of Kauri gum. He got to keep it.
My favorite feature in Gumdiggers Park was the tea tree tops. You would walk up some stairs to a platform above the trees. I loved it because it was quiet and peaceful. All I could hear was the wind in the trees below and the faint sound of kids in the distance. It made me feel calm.
When we finished the Hikoi, we sat down on a patch of grass near the entrance and had lunch.
After we had our yummy kai, we went back to the carpark. We then got back into our cars and went back to school.
