Did you know that butterflies taste with their feet?

During the life cycle of a butterfly there are four stages.

Egg , larvae , chrysalis ,  butterfly stage.

__________________________________________________________________________

The egg stage

At the start of the life cycle the female butterfly lays the eggs on a leaf , stem or another object . The eggs may be round or oval and some are

some are ribbed. If you look really really really close You can see

the caterpillar growing inside .

The larvae stage

Once the caterpillar comes out of its egg It sometimes eats its egg.

All caterpillars have cool patterns .In this stage, the caterpillar needs

to eat lots to grow and will usually start by eating the leaf they were

born onto. Caterpillars shed there skin 4 and sometimes 4 and more

times. Caterpillars look like a bigger kind of worm.

The chrysalis stage

After the caterpillar has eaten enough it will forms a chrysalis which

is usually brown or green so it is camouflaged. Many hibernate They

stay in their chrysalis during the winter at this stage. They stay in their chrysalis for 25 days or more. This is the

transformation stage, when the caterpillar tissues are broken down

and the adult’s insect structures are formed, including growing wings.

The butterfly stage

After the caterpillar has been in the chrysalis for 25 days it splits open.

Before the butterfly can fly they need to flap their wings about 39 – 65 times  and then can fly. Adults also mate and the female butterflies lay eggs, redoing the life cycle again.During the fourth stage, the chrysalis splits open to reveal a colorful adult butterfly, which the caterpillar has transformed into.
