Talofa lava to the Educational World,
After a year hiatus from blogging, I’m excited to announce, I’m baaaaack! I plan to make a regular appearance here on blogosphere! I’m aiming for once a week, but don’t hunt me down if I go missing again ha! I’m going to kick off by sharing some key highlights from our Manaiakalani Wānanga.
The last two days, I attended the Manaiakalani Wānanga alongside our fabulastic Homai team, Christina Patea, Anne Forsyth & Elfrida Raj. I had an amazing time! It was great to reconnect with our Manaiakalani peeps and dive deep into the innovative approaches that are transforming education in our community!
Key highlights:
1. Focus on Data-Driven Practices:
We engaged in discussions about using data to inform teaching practices and improve student outcomes. With our School, our goal will be to use EdPotential efficiently and deep dive into data analysis.

2. Cluster Goals:
It’s well known that we have the best cluster, Te Purapura Ngātahi o Manaiakalani. We’re all about teaching the basics brilliantly and getting creative with our Learn, Create, Share approach. Here’s the scoop:
- We’re giving our beloved Learn, Create, Share pedagogy a fresh spin! It’s going to be front and centre in everything from staff meetings to lesson planning.
- Get ready for our cluster-wide Film Festival extravaganza! Every school is jumping on board to explore filmmaking, create content, and share their cinematic masterpieces. We’re talking online viewing parties, live commenting on blogs, and a livestream event. It’s like Cannes, but way cooler!
- We’re bringing the research data party to everyone! All staff will get in on the action with afterschool cluster-wide meetings. We’re bringing all the numbers, graphs, and stats to our teachers – because who doesn’t love a good data party?

3. Networking with Inspiring Leaders:
One of the best parts of the Wānanga was the chance to network with amazing leaders in education. Their passion was contagious, and it was inspiring to hear their stories and insights. Plus, who doesn’t love connecting with like-minded educators over great kai!
Till next week peeps!
