Kia Ora, Everybody! Last week, I worked on this worksheet to help me practice my paragraph-writing skills. We have been practicing our paragraph-writing skills for Social Studies by researching a significant figure in New Zealand’s history. Once I finish studying, I will write a PEEL paragraph explaining why they are one of New Zealand’s most significant figures.
The significant New Zealander I chose to research is Douglas Lloyd-Jenkins.
Douglas is a writer and a commentator. He wrote several books in New Zealand, contributed to various publications, and held a role in museums for his designs and architecture, like the Hawkes Bay Museum.

Here is my PEEL Paragraph about Douglas Lloyd-Jenkins:
Douglas is a significant New Zealander because of his contribution and understanding of New Zealand’s designs and cultural history. He created a book called “At Home: A Century Of New Zealand Design” which played an important role in promoting New Zealand’s design. He also raised awareness through his writing and how he was shown on television because he brought his design and architectural history to foster great awareness and appreciation for these aspects of the culture in New Zealand. It wasn’t just one book he wrote that promoted New Zealand culture, he also wrote other books regarding New Zealand culture like “Beach Life: a Celebration of Kiwi Beach Culture”. He was recognized by receiving awards and participated in New Zealand architecture and design. In conclusion, Douglas Lloyd-Jenkins has been active in shaping how New Zealanders value their own design and cultural history which makes him a significant New Zealander.
