– Based on my understanding, Kotahitanga indicates Unity and the bond with each other as a group and being able to work together as a team and be satisfied whatever the outcome of your game is, win or lose. Respect and encouragement is also one of my definitions on kotahitanga since it can boost not just yours but your whole team’s confidence by just giving one of those to them, like telling one of your teammates that they’re doing fine in the game, encouraging them every time they make a mistake, and also giving them respect when they are talking and listening to their opinions on what we do for the lesson.
– The first thing that we do when we start our lesson is set up the net together, making sure that it is all tied up tightly, assuring that the net is aligned to all of the lines in the court. After that we then proceed on doing the role, and as the team manager I make sure that everyone is in class and that they have their own p.e gear ready for the upcoming lesson. My team mates are Nigel, Jodi, Brielle, Sonny, and lastly Ella Rose. Nigel is the team stats keeper, Jodi is the captain, Brielle is also one of the team’s stats keepers, Sonny is the coach, Ella rose is the referee, and last but not least, me as the manager.
– At every practical lesson we get to do a role and make sure that everyone is in class and that everyone has a p.e gear for the upcoming lesson. After that we then follow it up with some warm up like a couple stretches and some drills that will get us ready for the lesson. From then on we talk to each other as a team and plan our strategies and are going to be on the following games that we are going to do. The way this helps in creating Kotahitanga is by letting us get to hear some of our team mates opinions on what we do before the lesson.
– I was able to learn a lot from Mr. Scott since he got us to join class with his year 12 p.e class and do 2 lessons together. Within those 2 p.e lessons I learned so much about the sport Volleyball and I also really enjoyed it because Mr. Scott is an amazing teacher and I also get to do a p.e lesson with some of my year 12 mates. The way I shared my knowledge that I got from Mr.scott with my p.e class is by reminding them to always do what sir told us to do and also acknowledge their willingness to learn just like how Mr. Scott acknowledged me and other students.
