Book Review – HANDEL Who Knew What He Liked

This book follows the story of the famous opera and song composer in the broch era George Frideric Handel.
When he was a young boy he was always dreaming about making music and playing the piano. One day his father went to a neighbouring castle so he decided to go. Whilst there he found a organ (A organ is a type of piano like instrument that has air in the pipes and when playing makes a loud sound) and played it. The Duke of the castle heard and thought it was beautiful so he wanted to make him play for them. I encourage you read this because I do not want to spoil the book.
I learnt that when making songs he did go bankrupt due to some people making fun of his way of opera and songs so it led to people bullying him but he did not give up and wrote the famous song The Messiah.
Before reading this book I would recommend people interested that they listen to some of the songs before reading as the music is beautiful and they tell a story with them of him going through the hardships of his songwriting career.
M.T Anderson wrote this book to show the story of famous song writer Handel it showed what he had to go through to get success. At a young age he was told he could not make it as a song writer but he decided to prove everyone who did not believe in him he could make it.
Quote: “In spite of everything, he could do what he liked”
I rate this book a clean 10/10 because of the art style and the story it tells.
I recommend this book for people who enjoy very long books but also lots of information will love this book. This book contains classic and simple but intricate drawings.
