over the last 2 weeks we have been learning and writing about sharks and we have all written an persuasive piece of writing about whether or not sharks that kill humans should be killed.
Sharks that attack humans should be killed
I completely disagree that sharks should be killed. No good person would ever think this is wrong. Sharks don’t deserve to be killed just for defending their land and their lives. We need sharks for keeping the population right otherwise we’ll have too much of what we don’t need. It’s not like we’re not part of the problem too. We are killing 274,000 per day, which is a big problem.
They are trying to survive
Sharks don’t understand that we are not going to hurt them because to them we are just trying to get hurt or trying to get their food and land although we do do some of those things. Sharks only eat us because they do need food and we have eaten all of their food anyway.imagine if sharks came into our houses and started snooping around and taking our food. Would we just let them come in and do whatever they want? No, we’d probably try and put them in cages in a zoo or even try to kill them. So why wouldn’t sharks do the same? Sharks are just protecting their land, their food and themselves. Why kill them?
We are a threat too
Mentioned above we kill 274,000 per day that’s estimated to be about 1 million per year and there’s only about 5 humans killed by sharks per year. What’s the point were already killing sharks and five humans is not very many. There are lots of ways we kill sharks and it’s not always on purpose. When fishermen are catching things like tuna and swordfish because sharks usually use the same feeding grounds and routes they unintentionally catch sharks. Sharks also have slow reproduction making it hard when a lot of sharks have been caught. Sharks sometimes can get caught in discarded fishing gear and nets they also can get very unwell from ingesting plastic.
Control the population
Although sharks do kill some humans we need sharks for many reasons including controlling the population. Sharks eat most sea creatures smaller than them and most of the ones we don’t need if we lose sharks we will have too many things like otters, dolphins, rays and seals. sharks eat all of them and make sure they don’t eat too many of them either. Sharks control everything and other things already control sharks. Why do we need to eat them if there’s already things like killer whales, bigger sharks and even some species of crocodiles killing them for us and what will they eat without sharks? Little useless sea creatures will get out of hand if we don’t have sharks and slowly the population of sharks will die and so will other creatures. We need Sharks!
Sharks are great for the sea, for us and for themselves. Sharks don’t kill us just because they’re bored, they are protecting everything they have. Without them the populations of the sea will be out of control. Sharks are not the problem, they are only killing 5 of us per year. We kill around 1 million per year that is too much. Sharks that attack humans should not be killed.
