The Tree’s Roots

This term a few weeks ago I was learning how to write a narrative. A narrative is a story with a narrator speaking over the story.

Alex woke up on a Monday morning feeling hungry. He looked in his pantry and found nothing, so he grabbed his wallet. When he was finished getting ready, he grabbed his keys and opened the door. His door was a push door that could lock, but Alex accidentally forgot to lock it. He was too tired to remember.

The neighbour’s dog, George, snuck in through the apartment door. Then George heard a loud thud, and everything went black. He barked until a bright light soared through an opening. He barked for hours. George felt like it was going to last forever.

Then Alex came home to see a gigantic tree in the middle of his room. Alex ran to the opening of the tree after hearing the barking sound. He checked his security camera and saw the dog wandering in and the tree falling into his house.

He grabbed a ladder from his garage and climbed onto the top of the tree. He felt terrified for the dog.

He was holding onto the one branch he couldn’t snap. There was supposed to be a storm that night. He was terrified. He didn’t have his phone on him, and his apartment was the highest one. He was stuck on top of the tree for hours.

Eventually, Alex fell asleep and fell down through the hole back into his house. He landed on the roots of the tree—crushing the dog underneath. George was crushed into another dimension. You could still see a little white dog under the tree’s roots.

Alex woke up crying, telling the neighbours what had happened.

But little did Alex know… George was in the Entity World, living his life.
