Today, Matua Richard visited Kotare for our inquiry, Te Moana.
We were learning about shorebirds. New Zealand’s shorebirds are not doing well.
They have lots of predators, and humans are damaging their habitats.
Baby shorebirds have to get their food for themselves from the moment they hatch.
Their eggs are camouflaged. and their nest are not protected.
We also got to design and build our own shorebird nest.
I made the nest with sand, sticks and a feather by the rocks. (the rocks were eggs.)
