Liquid density data for science!

Hey bloggers! Last week on Thursday we did an interesting science experiment with different types of liquids. What we did is we used different liquids and we layered them on top of each other in test tubes. Some examples of what we used are glucose, Salt water, detergent, water , oil and menthol. The point was to see which of the liquids was dense, so the ones that ended up on the  bottom were heavier, the ones in the middle were mid and the ones on the top were the  lightest.

As you can see here this is what we ended up with.

There are different layers of colours ( They are the liquids we used. )

Now I am going to answer The questions:

  1. How does the density affect the positions of each liquid? It depends on the weight of the liquid, for example the lightest liquid would be at the top  while the heaviest would be at the bottom.
  2. What do you think would have it if you stir all the liquids together and why? It would be mixed together and the colour brown, because all the colours mixed together equals the colour brown.
  3. Can you identify which liquid is the densest  and least dense?how do you know? The one the was more densest was the sugar syrup and the least dense ( I think ) was the menthol.
