science 9R 2025

The 9R science class has been progressing smoothly, almost like melted butter—steady, engaging, and full of energy. Although the classroom can get a little noisy at times, that noise often comes from enthusiasm and curiosity rather than distraction. Overall, this term has been a fascinating experience that has deepened my understanding of how science shapes the world around us. I’ve really enjoyed how our lessons connect directly to real-life situations, showing that science is not just about formulas or theories but about explaining the everyday phenomena that surround us. Each topic we cover feels like uncovering a new mystery of the universe, revealing how everything in nature is linked through logic and patterns.

The most memorable “wow” moment for me was learning that the Earth’s diameter is 12,756 kilometers, and its circumference measures around 40,075 kilometers. Those figures completely changed the way I visualized our planet. When I think about my own journey sailing from Michigan to New Zealand, which covered nearly 30,000 kilometers, I realize I traveled almost three-quarters of the way around the globe. It’s incredible to consider that something I experienced connects so directly to what we study in class. Understanding these numbers made Earth feel both vast and measurable at the same time. That realization gave me a new appreciation for geography, physics, and how science helps turn abstract ideas into something concrete and meaningful.

One of the best parts of science this year has been how it encourages curiosity. We don’t just learn facts—we investigate why things happen, test our ideas, and learn from the results. Whether it’s studying the layers of the Earth, experimenting with forces, or observing chemical reactions, the hands-on activities make learning come alive. I’ve discovered that doing experiments helps ideas stick much better than reading alone. It’s satisfying to see a scientific principle in action and realize that you understand it because you proved it yourself.

Teamwork has also played a big role in making our lessons fun and engaging. Even though group work can be a bit chaotic at times, it often leads to the best discussions and discoveries. Collaborating with classmates brings out different perspectives and challenges me to think in new ways. The mix of laughter, debate, and problem-solving creates an atmosphere where learning feels exciting rather than routine.

Overall, 9R science has taught me that curiosity is the foundation of discovery. This class has not only expanded my knowledge of the Earth and its systems but also inspired me to see the world through a scientific lens. The more I learn, the more I want to explore, and that sense of wonder is something I’ll carry with me far beyond this classroom.
