This week, we have been reading a book about rats. It was called the Great Rat-Catching Competition.
It’s a book that talks a lot about pests that cause destruction and kill native plants and animals. The students from New Half Bay School acted quickly; they placed traps to catch the pests and then started a competition.
The competition was about the coolest fur and the longest mouse. The longest mouse was almost half a meter, and the coolest fur was black fur from a black mouse.
I felt a bit shocked because there were so many rats, and they want it to be predator-free by 2050.
