Cultural Day !!

Talofa Lava, Bonjour, Hola, Fakaalofa atu, Bula, Mālō e Lelei, and 你好 – (Nǐ hǎo)!!

Today New Brighton Catholic School, celebrated all cultures. Firstly we started with our traditional Friday Assembly but changed some things, kids were chosen to come up on stage and say hello in their culture. There was all sorts of cultures there was – Niuean, Tongan, Samoan, Mandarin, Indian, Fijian, and more ! ! !

Before Cultural Day, we had to choose a culture to make a slideshow about. Me & my friends chose Mexico and my other friends chose Samoa. Once we finished our slideshow we had to come to school dressed up in the culture we chose, and we also got to make a heap of flags and hang them up on the balcony ! It looked really pretty.

After assembly we had a parade to see what everyone wore to celebrate their culture. Then we had some performances, Brenna did an Irish dance in a really pretty dress, and so did Willa. Then the year 7s did some Korean Dances, we did APT & Head shoulders knees and toes but in Korean. The last performance was the Kapa Haka we did Tokia & Tohu Potiki.

Cultural Day was really fun I also really enjoyed seeing kids dress up. There were many cultures celebrated ! The people in my group that dressed up and helped make a slideshow based on Mexico ( The Culture We Chose ) Were Lilia, Leisha, Me ( Zara ) & Kiara.
