Holes Create – 3

This week we have been reading chapters 16 – 23 in the book Holes. I had to create something to represent my learning, I chose to write a letter from Stanley’s great-great-grandfather to his family. For this activity I had to think hard about what it would be like surviving the dessert and what I would write in a letter home. Here is my letter that I did on a Google Doc.

Dear family,

I have somehow survived this amazingly hot and dry dessert. I found refuge on God’s thumb, I know you will probably think I’ve gone mad but the truth is that at the top of the mountain there was what I thought looked like a thumb. I don’t know why but it seemed to sort of drag my mind towards it and put me in some kind of trance. Once I got to the top I saw the enormous thumb and I slightly remember finding water and greedily drinking it. Once I was rescued, my rescuers said that I smelled really bad of onion, and that there must have been an onion patch that I feasted on though I don’t remember. No need to worry any more, I’ll be on my way home just after they check me for injuries at the hospital.

Love from Stanley.

Have you ever read the book Holes?
