Maths: Even Chance

Kia Ora

In maths we have been learning how to identify if it would be a 50/50 or if it would be unlikely, which is Even Chance. Even Chance helps us in our daily lives, especially when deciding what can and can not happen. This helps us know what the chances are for something. For an example, I have a 100% chance to go shower tonight. Why do we need this? We need this so we can identify what and what us people can do. When doing maths we had to predict what the coin would land on ten times, whether it’s heads or tails. For us we thought it would be a 50/50 chance. Why? We didn’t really know why.

There was another game we did with some dice. But I wasn’t here so I didn’t really know what they were doing. But! So far I really enjoyed this, I found it hard while writing this because I kept getting stuck on what to write.

Melip2 | Reflection

What?

What was the activity? The activity involved creating a graph from data we collected as a group and then presenting our findings to the class. We worked together to gather information, organize it into a graph, and deliver a presentation explaining our results to everyone.

What did you do? We designed a survey to collect information from students, aiming to reach around 50 people. After gathering the responses, we worked as a team to turn the raw data into a clear graph. Finally, we prepared a presentation to show our findings and practiced delivering it confidently in front of an audience.

What were the learning intentions? The main goal of this activity was to improve our presentation skills. We focused on learning how to present clearly and professionally, organize our thoughts, and communicate with our audience effectively.

What was the most challenging part of this activity? Why? How did you solve it? The most difficult part was collecting enough responses for the graph because we needed information from about 50 students, which was hard to get. To solve this, everyone in our team took responsibility for surveying as many students as possible. By splitting up and working together, we managed to gather enough data for a meaningful graph.

So what?

What have you learned? Through this experience, I learned that I am confident when speaking in front of people. I discovered that my public speaking skills are strong, and I can express my ideas clearly when presenting.

Were you able to achieve the learning objectives? Why? Yes, I achieved the learning objectives because I was able to present without feeling nervous. My preparation and teamwork helped me feel confident, and I delivered my part of the presentation successfully.

What did you learn about your skills in language learning? I learned that I can speak clearly and confidently when presenting to an audience. This skill is important not just for language learning, but also for sharing information in a professional way.

Did you make any mistakes that you can learn from? During the presentation, I accidentally spat while I was talking. It was a bit embarrassing, but I realized it was a small mistake that I can learn from.

How will you do better next time? To improve for next time, I will make sure I speak more slowly and carefully so that I don’t accidentally spit when I present. I’ll also practice my delivery to ensure I am even more professional next time I speak in public.

Now what?

What have you learned that can be used in real-life situations? This activity has helped me become a better public speaker. I can use my improved presentation skills not only at school but also in real-life situations, such as explaining ideas to others, presenting projects, or even in future job interviews. Being able to communicate clearly is a valuable skill that will help me in many different areas of my life.

School Uniform Report Reflection

Our activity was to conduct a school-wide survey, then write a report on the data we had gotten, and then present the report in a team in front of our class(Melip 2). My team’s topic was on uniforms, so I had to go and survey people, and I have gotten 15 opinions for my survey. I was also the reporter of the group, but I was also the notetaker because my team member was away. The learning intentions were to conduct a simple school-wide survey, to write a short analytical report, to deliver a clear and organised report, and to work in a team. The most challenging part of this activity was definitely presenting my report in front of the class, because I was very nervous, but I overcame it by doing box breathing, which is an anxiety relief technique.

I have learnt how to make interesting templates for reports, my analytical skills have improved, and better public speaking. I think I have achieved most of the learning intention except for delivering a clear report because I feel like my speech was a bit unclear because and my team member who wrote the report used vocabulary in a different way. I have learn that I can use the new vocabulary I learnt very well when I write. I made a mistake when I was presenting because I had no eye contact with the audience/my classmates, even though I was speaking clearly. I can do better next time by rehearsing my speech with my team, so I can at least memorise some part of the speech, which will give me enough time to make eye contact with my audience for a few seconds. This would improve my speeches because I would have more eye contact with my audience/classmates.

Something I have learnt from this activity that used in real-life situations is delivering speeches in front of crowds or at events like birthdays, weddings, or a housewarming party. This activity also taught me some new vocabulary that I can use in statistics.

Science-Week 8-Term 4

Hey bloggers! So last week we made the experiment of making the turning milk into plastic! So we put vinegar and warm milk, first we put the vinegar in a cup and then we add the warm milk,so I stirred a bit too early so that’s why mine didn’t really work out at first but then we added more warm milk and then it started to work!so its like a liquid but when u scoop it up with the spoon and put it on a tissue it will kinda get like a bit hard but still liquidy, then we use our hands to mix it and form it into a ball, then we shape it with a cookie cutter or we just form it with our own hands! So before we do all of that we actually have a student slide that we had to put our information about our experiment, let me insert it below👇 so here it is!

I was forced to blog this so like please don’t mind how little I wrote❤

okay bye guys that is all for my science blog!Byee
